| Quote vastman="vastman"Well actually it's not a no brained if you put the club ahead of yourself which is exactly the point MC is making for heavens sake!
By all means let him know you're unhappy with the product but why rob the club and ultimately yourselves of much needed revenue. The revenue needed to create a team and keep the youngsters and give us the silverware we all crave. Surely that's more important than the cost and quality of the beer for 12-14 days of the year. How on earth do you think the club pays its players?
That for heavens sake this is the no brainer but very typical of Wakefield and RL fans in general, anything but pay the full amount - sorry but you're happy to see this guy pump thousands into the club to keep it going and you won't pay an extra quid for a pint, really.'"
It's a two way street though. You can't expect people to just buy rubbish because it benefits the club.
I always buy at least one of the home or away kits each year, even though they're pretty expensive compared to most clothes I buy, because I'd rather the club have the money. If they're all nice then I might get both the home and away (I got all three last season). But if they were all dreadful designs and terrible quality then I wouldn't bother.
I never drink on a match day so the beer doesn't particularly concern me but I think you've got to at least offer some sort of compromise. If you can get a nicer pint in the con club at a cheaper price then the club really needs to either a) make it the same price or b) make it better quality.
I'm sure most people wouldn't mind paying a bit more at the club if it was the same quality, or drinking a worse pint if it was the same price. But complaining that people won't pay more for a worse pint is taking the mickey.

| Quote Wholly Trinity="Wholly Trinity"To me, that's the key. £5 a week is perceived differently to a one-off payment of £249. People are used to budgeting based on monrhly direct debits. If it was possible to offer more flexibility of membership, and iideally include different levels of committment, the income source could be expanded.'"
Might be very basic and old fashioned but what I have done for years is put a tenner in a jar every week (without fail) and hence after a year I have £520 which covers my season tickets for both Oakwell and BV> Ok, I have concessions but you get the drift. The Barnsley FC ticket works out at £8.26/ match; excellent for Championship football.

It never fails to amaze me how people miss the point. Clearly under normal circumstances you'd be right. But in this case you only attend bv to support your team otherwise you'd be drinking at a nice country pub. Drinking there rank beer is just another way to support your club not quench your thirst. By not doing so you are cutting your nose off to spite your face and thus have no right to complain when we can't keep Jowitt or sign x y and z.
Yes the club should improve the product and you should let them know how you feel but to take your business elsewhere beggers belief to me, is it such a big sacrifice to have a warm pint - really?
I wouldn't mind if it were the clubs core business but in case people forget that's playing rugby.
I've bought endless crap from the club over the years much of which I've never used because it seemed an extra way to support the club.
Sorry but that's how I see it.

| Get some of that lovely Trinity Ale flowing through the pumps around the ground. A real quality pint and brewed within the ground! I'm sure a deal could be struck with the brewers!!

| I hold my hand up here.
Drinking more real ale these days rather than lager as that it what I prefer and walk to the ground from Thornes.
Halfway point from my house is the Ruddy Duck and they usually have a couple of guest beers on. One a nice day it is nice sitting out there watching the boats, though not the Norfolk Broads.
That said I am also known sometimes to have one in the ground too. More accessible decent pints of real ale in the north stand though would change my mindset

| We are involved in the service sector, the supporters are the club's customers and should be treated as such. If you want to increase sales then provide a reasonable product that is consumable rather than cheap to acquire. Why should we pay more for an inferior product when there are many other suppliers within a close proximity.
The spare cash is now spent more carefully than ever before so no one should be expected to waste this just because it is sold by the club.
I would think that our new friend the conservative MP for Morley would be happy to see supporters putting funds into her party coffers, which could actually result in her doing something for the benefit of the club.
