| Quote: newgroundb4cas "I have seen Higgins play hes a overweight prop who does 10mins a half .Hickey as played at the highest level. ITs like saying how do you know MAN UNITED WILL BE IN TOP 4 AND WOLVES IN THE BOTTOM HALF NEXT YEAR. Dont talk rubbish.'"
Just because Hickey has played in the NRL, it's no given, as you should know , that he's going to come here and tear it up. How many times, have we brought a Aussie over, only for him to not live up to the hype. Wheres as, how many times, have we brought a English player, with something to prove and has turned out to be a great deal. I've got a mate, who watched him play the other day and he said he was the stand out forward and he will be a good addition, to add depth to our small squad . Just because we are buying him doesn't mean that we aren't looking for more quality to fill our overseas places.

| Yes there are plenty of players that have come from Aus/NZ who we have all got very exited about just because they have a fancy sounding name it does not mean a thing.
Winterstein
Peterson
Tronc (good player but did not last long)
Magic Millard (who was not as magic as we expected)
That big lump from last season
Hood
I could go on.

| Tyke will go well at your gaff, strong runner of the ball, makes very little errors and is a pretty tough defender. I've always liked John Kear as a coach as he is very honest and has always been very complementary about Wire. Hope you guys managed to stay is SL next year.

I feel the same way - I'm getting disproportionate enjoyment from watching a team full of young, British players trying their hearts out each week, despite the thumpings. Higgins appears to fit what we've created, so he'll do for me until he proves otherwise.
I certainly won't judge him based on a picture off of t'internet - that's just potty.

The obvious difference though is that we have actually signed Higgins and (as yet) have not signed Hickey.
You can shout all you like but all we can really do is get behind the players we have actually got. Bearing in mind the number of players we have taken on in the past that nobody rated/wanted who have turned out to be good for us, and the ones others wanted that turned out to be rubbish for us, I would still just wait and see how they get on.

| I suppose a parallel can be made between two ex players. Would you rather have had Wilkes in the side or Tronc? One is undoubtedly more talented than the other yet one gave much, much more to the club despite their inferior ability.

Imagine if we could have Stosic and Tronc (with Wilkes's commitment) in the front row...? Beautiful
