| It can't possibly happen can it? Can it?!
Sounds very promising, but I still have that pessimistic Wakefield trait in me!

| Quote: Dunkirk Spirit "Tonight’s Q&A with JM, they now have a fully funded scheme. Going to planning early December, obviously cannot guarantee will be passed at that time, if passed, we will see first phase work starting February, no decision yet regarding seating, possibly temporary seat on Western Terrace or North Stand. North Stand terrace will be substantially upgraded and have food/drinks stands.
Retaining current hospitality boxes for now, looking to upgrade the Western terrace in the future but no time frame given. The Rollin Shack (community hub) will have community changing rooms etc (details available on the planning site ) sorry if I’ve missed anything regarding the Stadium. There was other none Stadium related questions, but I don’t think are required on this thread.'"
This is absolutely excellent news.
I know we've had more false dawns than enough but the "fully funded" part makes this seem very positive indeed and after allof the shenanigan's at NM etc, could/would this really get knocked back

TBF, Mr Minards seemed to have every confidence of the detail shared.

| Not really to do with our Stadium, but there are now some interesting comments appearing on the Castleford forum. I suppose as Rate payers they do have the right to look where the money goes. As far as I am aware, we only received a loan to buy the land, All other things I hear about Stadium council money is pure speculation.
From the Cas forum
I see Wakey have the finances in place so once planning permission is in place there revamp will be good to go. This funding i believe also includes a decent sized contribution from the council coffers. We need to be all over this demanding the same from Axiom and the council. Sitting around waiting is not good enough, there is plenty of mood music around within the game saying licensing will be returning, in fact it is even stated in Wakeys planning documents that that’s the plan. We need to get moving with some development otherwise our super league place will be at serious risk.

Best not to get involved with our six-fingered friends or at least those on that forum.
They are not being diddled and any reasonable fan can see that, but the story of how we have got to where we are is extremely convoluted and almost impossible to explain on a message board. I've tried and you just can' and in a way, I understand how it looks from their viewpoint as I can't expect them to trawl through 20 years of history.
Good thing is that since Box went their power base has been hugely weakened so their opinion matters far less in a political sense.

| Fingers and everything else crossed come next spring we will no longer be the poor relation in the RL camp as we start on the road to a stadium fit for purpose. we will be the envy of the likes of Salford, Wigan , hull , hudds and cas , some not owning their own grounds and some getting left behind in the updating stakes . Been a long long time coming but hopefully the finish line is in sight and a huge achievement for all concerned at the club to get it to this point

Crucial point and one I made earlier.
In the long run, we may be one of the luckier clubs in the game.
Sure BV will never be the KC or the JJB but it could be the near-perfect RL ground for us and one that feeds every penny it makes to the club.
I bet given the chance again both Wigan and Hull would take a different path. Leeds are the best example, they are in a genuine partnership in a ground they have always been at that has gradually been re-developed.
Once Leeds have paid off or got under control their current debt burden they like Warrington will be in a league of their own, not sure about the Saints situation.
Renting stadiums, especially shared ones is quickly proving to be a burden rather than a benefit.

Do you mean Leeds?
If so then not really.
For a start, Leeds RL only has a percentage of that debt. More importantly, though it's a matter of scale.
The amount of revenue Headingly generates in a year, RL, Cricket, Conferences etc etc dwarfs what BV will do, so I'd say the debt is very serviceable, though the Cricket side needs to sharpen up its act.

The racism row is likely to leave a big hole in that though.
Revenue from International fixtures was over £10M in 2019 and they've just lost all of that for the foreseeable future

| Unless they turn it round pretty quickly this will cost the teams at Headingley severely.

What happens when all the county teams have similar skeletons unearthed? Where will the International games be played then?
