Top six 2005 - Trinity.: |
|
| Turner was clearly offside. Very suprised it was given but howlers do happen.
Wellens got beaten by hall and clearly raised the leg and tripped hall. Watched it a few times with other people and its a professional foul that was missed.
There was a flop in last set Wakey attacking with seconds to go unpenalised.
One thing saints did well was slow the play down at the ruck. Drove me nuts but it's the tactic they needed to win. Just lucky that the ref didn't seem much interested in this.
Despite the above which contributed we were again our own worst enemy. Forward passes. Passing to opposition twice. Macshane in particular needs to tidy it up but I did think he got pinged for a line ball we see week in week out.
Saints got the run of the green in a landslide. Best just to move on now.
Salford next, this is a must win and the team need to be breaking there backs to smash Salfords teeth in. We are sat in a good position now but a loss on Sunday and the team will be exactly where most people/pundits predicted is to be.

| Saints did a good job of slowing down the play of the ball, as they were aloud to. Was infuriating at times. History now anyway

| Two years running Wakefield have been shafted by officials, playing Saints at BV and Cunningham thinks his team were "mugged".
Of course, you wouldn't expect anything other than a one eyed view in the local paper but, some of his comments are just comical.
He could be the new Jonny Vegas !
Notice that he didn't mention his team saving a try with a blatant trip. Mind you, all of the officials, that were biased in favour of Wakefield, missed that as well .

| And I thought I watched the matches with blinkers on. That is incredible from Cunningham.
I can only suggest that he accompanies Mr Hicks and the video ref to Specsavers next time they visit.

| That's a shame for Saints - they've generally operated at a class above some other clubs, but if they allow Cunningham to talk to the media like that on a regular basis, they'll end up coming across like Wigan.
Note - we actually lost the game, and James Webster has conducted no such churlish interview...

And now theyre saying it was a slip so was only a penalty, so I guess that's an admission they got it wrong

| "The officials didn’t see a problem with it - but how has Mark split his eye open and suffered damage to his tear duct, which is inside his eye?"
Glad he put a question mark at the end of this quote - your tear duct is not "inside your eye".
Back to the anatomy lessons...

| I overheard the commentators from BBC Radio Lancashire state "A controversial win for St Helens" in their post match summary. Given their mandate is to be slightly bias toward the Lancashire side for obvious reasons then I can safely assume that even they must agree that the decisions were very much in St's favour!
