Quote: kinleycat "The fev winger made Lynn look third rate.'"

Will Sharp, decent player, finished well.having said that you would have thought that after 2 easy tries down the same wing you would have mobilised extra cover to prevent it happening another 2 or 3 times, but you can only coach it,if that between the rib cage says no, there is no coach in the world will make it happen. icon_biggrin.gif

Apparently stating the obvious about POR is being bitter. I ain't bitter, I thought fev played well and took advantage of our mistakes, poor attacking and defending, but that doesn't mean that the state of POR can be excused.

Quote: Pencil "The question on the ground levelling has been answered all ready. I know someone who has been in the corporate boxes and he does rate it highly, so I will give you that.

I think BV has always had decent atmosphere just like POR and Wheldon Rd. The only issue at Fev is that it's hard to generate and atmosphere every week when some visiting teams bring less than 200 fans, BV would be no different in the Championship.'"

I thought the first 12 minutes that we dished up today were the worst I can remember seeing for some time.

As a Fox critic I feel I should say I thought he was possibly our best back today and deserved credit.

In the pack I agree with other posters about Annakin and young Crowther also showed up well.

No one so far mentioned Smith, I thought he looked good and was our best prop by far.

As far as Mathers is concerned, he did the warm up in a tracksuit and looked like he did not want to be there. The way he played also gave me that impression.

With your comments on the ground, if your not bitter then you are delusional because many of your fellow Wakefield fans have been very complimentary on our ground improvements.

Not come on here to gloat at all because it was just a friendly and you can't read too much into friendlies. Little annoyed with some of the comments on our ground which I just don't agree with.

With your past money troubles and the players you've lost then you need to keep right behind your team and coaching staff.

All the best for next season especially against Cas

Far too many delicate flowers on here today; I call it as I see it and I won't patronise Fev by suggesting that their ground is wonderful since they've put the new stand up, because it isn't; the lights were not strong enough, the car park and access road was a swamp, the steps were crumbling away and the whole place looked a dump. They've obviously got big plans and best of luck to them, but there's a long way to go before I wax lyrical.

As for the rugby - it was pretty grim, but congratulations to Fev on the win - they thoroughly deserved it.

I am impressed with the changes. Once the stands are fully functional, you could do with a decent pitch. Obviously there are other areas that need improving as it's not the finished article but I certainly applaud the progress. eusa_clap.gif

Today was such a cold, grey, murky day and the pitch looked chewed up after 10 minutes. Fast forward to the stands finished, played in sunshine on a firmer pitch it looks a whole lot better!

Old Trafford it isn't but it's certainly looking a lot better for mine.

Ps remember to stock up on the 'ten bobs' icon_wink.gif Was worried I was going to get a cold coffee when the electric went off 5 times whilst queueing up..

Pretty grim afternoon....

Best team on the day won, they wanted it much more all over the park and that was the difference.....

Where we were 2-3 months ago though I'll still take some positives from today.....Fev are a good side in their own right on their own patch.....a very difficult place to go....pitch looked very heavy to me and was very hard work.....after a nightmare opening 10-15 mins and two big errors that were punished....there wasn't much in it.....we bombed a few good chances....Fev looked a bit better composed and a bit better all round.....which was to be expected I think....

Certainly not the end of the world and plenty to build on.....a tough game.....a kick up the back side.....everything a pre season game should be......glad to finally have feeling back in me toes!!

Wakeys attitude and application was appalling in that first 15 mins and thats what the difference for me was - did they feel they just had to turn up and we would let them steamroller us? it looked like it from that first pass which was nonchelent at best

Although most seem to be blaming Mathers, Richard Moore was about as quick as a 2 legged cheetah in dealing with his initial error

Aside from that first 15 mins dont think there was much in it barring we took our chances that came our way through a combo of patience and good play and wakey appeared to panic when they got close to the line

Nice to have the local bragging rights for a change - it has been a while

Quote: Wakey Til I Die "Doubt we'll be seeing Smith on the wing, he'll be at centre and one of Briscoe or Lyne will be on the flank. And one of those you mention hasn't even signed for us yet! So five it is! Lee Smith could take over the free role that Cockayne had. We need our strongest outside backs on the pitch.

Quote: financialtimes "Seems to be a few sour grapes on here and for me the best team on the day won, more effort and enthusiasm, not sure where the earlier poster saw Kirmond putting in a decent effort, as I thought he had a poor game, Annakin was our best forward and maybe young Crowther would have run a close 2nd given a bit more game time, if Richard Moore is in the 17 for Salford I'd be amazed, on a day of por performace the positives I would take is, the 2 players that got the most slating last year went pretty well today (Fox & Lynne) not sure what was up with mathers but he didn't look like he wanted to be there, Sykes was dire for 60% of the game but actually went well at full back when RM went off, put in 2 try saving tackles, Wildie didn't look right at SH and we had no direction from anywhere on the field.
On the ground comments, PO road is obviously being improved and once completed will be a great little stadium, but the pitch needs to be sorted and entry/exit needs to be improves, to say that there was only 2.5k fans there
It's usually lit, agree it was a bit scary keeping tabs on the kids.

We'd been having trouble with the electrics all day apparently

Featherstone's home game last week was played in constant rain and the pitch looked like a quagmire at the end of it, was a remarkable effort to get it ready for this week.

Quote: bren2k "That was a dour, boring and low skilled game, played in terrible conditions in the freezing cold in a stadium that is still bloody awful, new stand or not.

Wish I'd stayed at home!'"

If it was bigger I'd take it over BV any day. Would be great to play in a packed Post Office Rd every week.
