Glad the ghastly woman got a battering today, she is the enemy, don't forget that!
I'm not in a position to rank her on a scale of ghastliness, but she's only doing her job, mate. Maybe if that Wakefield fella had done his properly, she wouldn't have been in that situation in the first place. Anyway, onwards and upwards. icon_biggrin.gif

I have been this morning and what I can say to those people who did speak , very well done . Good clear message was put forward to the panel . No hidden agendas or nothing personal was said . Only one objector stood up, but in my opinion his argument was very weak and he quickly sat down a026.gif

Once again very well done icon_thumb.gif

I just got back from the morning session and am left with a very positive feeling; I missed Jason, but Armadillo spoke confidently about all aspects of the development and dealt robustly with some of the objections. Martin Shevill was very knowledgeable about the wider benefits of sport and sporting achievement, linking it (evidentially, as a National Learning Leader, Principal of a Sports College and member of the Youth Sports Trust) to improved academic performance amongst young people. TRB was fantastic - he charted the almost unbelievable journey to Newmarket, through 5 failed attempts at delivering stadia. Ian also gave an excellent account of the need for the development and spoke extremely forcefully about the benefits it would deliver.

After each speaker in favour, the Inspector asked if anyone who opposed the speakers views would like to ask any questions; only Armadillo was questioned, by a rather angry Methley chap who's best argument seemed to be that a) the original SWAG petition didn't give enough detail and b) when there's an accident on the motorway, it causes delays.

All in all, a very positive morning; I was struck by the number of people bringing time, professional expertise and passion to bear on this matter, for absolutely no financial gain - if this thing eventually comes off, SWAG members and whomever else has been involved will have been instrumental in adding value to the lives of Wakefield residents for generations to come. Without a hint of cynicism, it's very humbling.

60 years supporting Trinity .............. and the psychiatrist still hasn't found a cure!:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_24147.jpeg

Yes, well done everybody. Clear arguments in support, spoken with conviction and persuasiveness without going overboard. There was good support there (I could only make the last hour) and everyone on their best behaviour. If clear, logical argument wins arguments we would have no problems at all. At the end everyone I spoke to was in good spirits and confident. eusa_clap.gif eusa_clap.gif eusa_clap.gif

Latest ramblings from Lurch go along the lines of all Wakefield fans are liars and could one of his Cas buddies post his inane idiocy on the Wakey board so that he can refute what Trinity fans are saying.

Those who are speaking up on behalf of the development (I think he means IA & TRB etc) are somehow on the payroll or in the case of IA he has a load of scrap metal to sell?

Think Lurch has spent too much time wandering around the slag and toxic waste that's been dumped on the old coliiary site he pretends to walk his mutts on.

I noticed that one too.

Given that IA has never attempted to hide his identity and has been 100% open about his professional interest in this matter, old Lurch is potentially treading on thin ice with that particular allegation.

Slugger - fancy a bit of pro-bono, to defend IA's reputation? icon_wink.gif

Carefull! Loopy Lurch will be making up stories about how you and IA are in business together and are harvesting rare glulam trees which are protected and only grow on old pit stacks

I understood that IA and TRB were in the repatriation of mythical creatures business together, and stand to make a bloody fortune rehoming the Unicorns and Dragons that have taken up residence on the old pit stacks.

What's pink & hard first thing in the morning? The financial time crossword [url=http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/864/pinkhards.jpg/:39bjthd5][img:39bjthd5]http://img864.imageshack.us/img864/5724/pinkhards.jpg[/img:39bjthd5][/url:39bjthd5]:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_65068.jpg

Hi All icon_wave.gif
First post on the forum and also first day I've been able to attend the PI today, I've been following this thread and others not only on this site and also Mr Glover on twitter, have to say I was very impressed with the speakers today, I thought they sold the positive view of the development well, couldn't believe the "One Man Methley Residents Army" I would have thought that if the local residents were so avidly apposed to the development then they might had turned up in numbers (maybe they did turn out in full if you know what I mean icon_wink.gif )
I do like to study people and their body language and have to say the the chairs appearance when anyone was speaking in favour of the development was very open and he was taking it all in, when Mr objector stood up it was a very different case, I do believe that common sense is going to prevail here I would be amazed if the outcome is anything other than a yeah!! to the development and if not then I think I will be running the length of belle view much the same as Gary Schofields promised should we finish top 8 icon_moon.gif

Rite arm orf to go spam all the other boards now I've plucked up enough courage to make my first post k020.gif
