Lets hope the powers that be are listening, we don't want him as coach. The only way I would accept him in the club is in a director of rugby role, indentifying the young talent in the area and putting proper development pathways in place from scholarships through to first team. If we were to go for an overseas coach then having someone who knows the area and has a good rep for spotting talent would make sense. But as coach, no way.

If they want the support of the fans they have to think carefully about who they appoint.

The fact that Hulls fans are on here begging us to take him speaks volumes.

I honestly think you would struggle to find one Wakefield fan who would support a decision to appoint Richard Agar, and I am positive this will be made abundantly clear tomorrow evening. I would however question the logic of some of the posts on this topic. He is still employed by Hull FC, Adam Pearson stated only 1 week ago that he is a key man for Hull FC and Agar in return seems quite happy where he is. It would be quite the leap of faith for us to have moved for him of all people when he is still under contract, and there are better coaches ie. Noble still out of a jobhttps://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/HULL-FC-Agar-key-man-says-Pearson/story-12994938-detail/story.htmlrl

rlhttps://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/HULL-FC-Working-Pearson-exciting-says-Agar/story-13003873-detail/story.htmlrl

It is understandable that Hull fans want rid. Their enthusiasm at the very prospect of him leaving is on a par with ours at the prospect of Kear leaving Wakefield. Yes he may have a connection to Elston, but for me, 2 and 2 has been put together on this one and 7 has been returned. If we have however made a move without even looking at the other options, then may it hang on the people that made that decision to do so. And it will. You don't need to look any further than Castleford to recognise an appropriate recruitment method. I'm not saying their final choice will be the right one, but at least they are looking to cover all bases before reaching their decision, and so should we.

Quote: Theboyem "Heard today that Kear told the troops that Agar is the man, hope my source is wrong, he usually is'"

It would be the ultimate irony for a club to consult the very person they are replacing on who they should replace him with. I just can't for the life in me see this being an appropriate conversation to have had. That's like my boss saying, "Sorry, we're letting you go, but do you know anyone who might want your job?". I don't think that even we have that level of idiocracy in us to do that, or at least I bl**dy hope we don't!!

The article in the mail is a bit misleading as in his interview on the radio he never said that Agar was the key man at the club what he actually said was the Coach was the key man, which is an interesting point to note.

As for Agar being happy to stay why wouldnt he be? He's done nothing but take us backwards on the field and suffered no repercussions for his poor record, hell even Kear had a much better record with us but got binned for less.

Agar is such the wrong choice it defies logic. Other than its an old pals act in case, as expected, he is to lose his job at the end of the season.

I've been supportive of FC having a young British coach for a while, up until a few months ago. I really wanted it to work out for Agar but for whatever reason it's not worked out.

No disrespect to your club at all, but I think the FC job is too big for him, the expectation levels have been raised, especially in light of Hull KR's improvement over the past 4/5 years. Our off the field operation is first class (Grade A licence etc), the only thing lacking is the on field product. Therefore we require a new coaching regime.

Given your league position and current situation, I'd say Agar could turn you into an 8th or 9th place team, but no higher. However I suppose this would be an improvement.

I can understand why he would not be a popular appointment but he would be a cheaper option than Noble.

You reckon do you, well it might have escaped your notice we being so humble compared to yourselves that we have actually been a top 8 side in recent years - so don't take this the wrong way but bog off and take Agar with you. icon_wave.gif
