It’s like people want to be disappointed and are just looking for the most petty things.

If I were JM or MC I’d tell Trinity fans to do one and leave, and allow them to wallow in the self pity they so obviously enjoy.

Better still let’s all vote for Scarlett to take over.

Don’t panic everyone he won’t take over because nobodies found the rock he lives under.

Quote: dboy "Also, the first row of the new terrace section is raised over half a metre higher than the previous iteration, massively improving the viewing.

Further, the new layout is a steel based terrace, rather than a concrete overlay.

I imagine it will be semi-permanent and can be repurposed elsewhere in the ground, should finances change the stadium progression.'"

What you mean someone’s come up with a better solution rather than a cheaper one. This cannot be as all these professionals are incompetent crooks so that can’t be right.

You can tell immediately that the moaners haven't even looked at the planning portal to see the changes in the plans.

I have the old and the revised doc open in front of me - people should try it!

Quote: dboy "No terracing has been lost.

The kiosk platform has been lost.

I'm sure it can be added in when finances allow.'"

No, the terracing overall area has been lost. Its harder to calculate because as you say the new terrace has a steeper slope and the original kept the original profile and was laid on top. Plus looking at the plan, the original retail facility would be right at the rear of the stand. If it was replicated on this present scheme , it would be much lower down.

Look we will disagree on the size of this down grade , but my worry is that this will not be the last.

We've gone from 22, low angle steps, to 16 steeper steps, with, as mentioned, a starting point .6m higher than previous.

We have lost the platform. Currently - it can be added later.

The loss of 6 steps of terrace will undoubtedly reduce it's capacity.

However, the viewing will be considerably better!

Sorry PB but it’s not a downgrade from what I’ve seen so far, it’s an amendment. When I first saw the plans I was surprised we went with the current slope as it’s clearly very shallow. As dboy says it offers far better viewing and actually won’t greatly affect the capacity if the tread depth has increased proportionally which it should have. By this I mean every level will be able to take more people.

It’s hard to explain but you know I’m bit of a geek on this subject. The very slight loss of capacity will be offset by a much better viewing experience. This strikes me that someone has offered some expert advise, it’s not me but if I were a real expert it’s what I would have suggested.

I have not seen the new plans yet so please bear with me, so I reserve the right to change my opinion.

Finally and I’m speculating here MC/JM were very keen to find a way to ring fence some cash to do the west terrace when I met them. The method now being used on the North stand is exactly what I’d use on the west. Makes me wonder. These things are always fluid.

I am thanks but not to play golf I will leave that to others and I don’t need to make mischief the club is good at doing that without any help. How about you have you got any plans to travel abroad.

That would be an ideal solution for the West Terrace. However I wonder if money being spent on the north terrace gains anything at all. Ok a bit of more modern steep terracing against and overall loss of total terrrace area. Plus losing a great amount of area beneath roof cover. We have a covered stand and not using about half of it, just seems a waste of one of the little bits of decent infrastructure that we have.

It's not "a waste", if the platform can be added at a later date.

The void looks ridiculous and disappointing however construction costs (materials, fuel and labour) are very volatile at the moment. This will have nothing to do with the watertight agreement but being able to contruct something that was valued a number of years back with today's prices plus inflation of >10%. This a real life problem all developers are having to battle and sadly the QS often wins as is the case here. I hate the term value engineering as whilst sometimes there is is a genuine saving more often then not its results in a worse product.

The saving grace is once installed its not set in stone, but finding the money to do a proper job will be difficult.

As others have said this would be perfect for the Western errace

Thanks Klav, not great it has to be said and I can’t pretend not to be disappointed. However on the plus side it has obvious potential to be completed as further funds are found. Not knowing the full details and future planning it’s hard to comment.

To true.

Compromises are being made clearly but if you want to blame someone blame Putin.

People have incredibly short memories that’s for sure.

It’s only three years ago that we were seriously discussing a move to Dewsbury as our only option to stay in SL.

We have one demented poster who can’t let NM go but to the rest of us this windfall cash is our saviour.

I can tell you now that if I were running the development I’d have done it differently but I’m not and whose to say I’d be right.

We are where we are and it’s a million miles better than where we were not so long ago. I for one had given up all hope and was picking my spot at the Rams stadium.

I view the east stand as a starting point. Money comes to money
and at least now it looks like we have some. It’s surprising but most rich people actually lack courage and imagination contrary to what people imagine. BV as it was would stretch anyones vision to be fair but now there is a hint of what could be.

So let’s see what we end up with first.

I'm not too sure how the club is good at making mischief, they could be at best accused of slight mismanagement over recruitment by they're critics on here and incompetence at worst depending how bitter some like yourself really feel, but mischievousness behave yourself.
You on the other hand come on here at every opportunity to come on here with your innuendos and half truths under the guise of everybody's allowed an opinion, but you just peddle the same old stuff with anything else you hear second hand in your favourite pastime of putting Carter and his associates down, very tedious and so predictable.
Having spent 45 years travelling the length and breadth of this great Country doing my job you get to appreciate just what's on offer and as a result I spend my time in this country thanks for asking, except when I went to perps to watch Trin, but having gone for the first 7 years the attraction finally went, why don't you try Bangkok there must be something there to attract even you, anyway this thread is about the ground, surely there's enough about that to get your dentures into icon_biggrin.gif
