| A genuine nice guy who would make a great ambassador for the club going forward. Unfortrunately, if JD wants to play on for another year, sentiment goes out of the window and that can't be with Wakefield. Good luck JD with whatever you do in the future. You should always get a great reception back at the club.
ps. Keep the effort up until the end of this season.

| Will be gutted - but it had to come sometime and maybe the legs can't do what the head wants anymore .
JD is a modern day legend for the club and hopefully after his last year playing the club can find him a suitable position - it would be a waste not to have him around .
Many thanks Jason & good luck !

| He'll be living it large in Perpignan next year with JK, mark my words.
Meanwhile, unlike our former friend Mr Tronc, I can't imagine for a minute that JD will give anything less than 100% for his remaining games with Wakey; he's too professional and commited to do otherwise.

| I rate JD up with the likes of Nigel Bell and Willy Poching for the good memories he has given me with the obvious one already been mentioned numerous times but most of all his pure love for the game, his smile lights up the field on many occasions particularly against Cas away the one i remember best.

| Having just read the blog on the bbc website and discover that no one from the club has had the decency to speak to JD about his future could I ask someone to inform Riley that the incident he refers to was at the Challenge Cup game and not the first game of the season. (When the fans showed their true colours, and their selective amnesia when it came to a loyal servant and one who had an operation in the off-season).
While I quietly seethe ! Best wishes to Jason, you deserve the very best.( Hint - York City Knights.)

| Here is the blog: [urlhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/georgeriley/2010/06/disappointed_demetriou_determi.html[/url
Take the emotion some add to the situation, understandably, and you have a player who is 34, been through the wars, picked up the knocks, and while he may be, quote, "starting to play a lot better," do you give someone a contract on sentiment alone.
We don't know how the club deals with players and contract renewals, and it's unfair to castigate them without knowing the story from both sides.

Well said, we don't know how the club sorts contracts out and JD's emotions will be running really high .

| My initial thought about how JD describes how he found out about his contract not being renewed was that the club seemed to have been a bit crass in their handling of the situation. After reading JD's comments again, his agent (the person JD has asked to deal with contract issues on his behalf) is the one who got in touch with the club to make initial enquiries.
Once contact had been made by the agent there would have been no point in the club saying "we'll get back to you" or "we need to speak to JD directly". If the club have been open from the start of the process then I don't think there is any real problem with what's happened.
I agree that it would have been nice for JK or Ted to speak directly to JD, but the harsh reality of sports contracts is that the players appoint agents for a reason and sometimes the agent comes back with bad news.

Exactly right, don't think JD does his own contract dealing so he can't have it both ways.

I dont think jd is angry just disappointed it came from his manager. He has given alot to this club and if that doesn't warrant the club to sit him down and explain, thier decision i dont know what is. He has said he understands and respects the decision and has no problem with the decision. I feel if just would have liked to have been treated like his efforts have been appreciated but he has am agent so bad luck as you say

I can see both sides of it and don't disagree with what you are saying, he does deserve the respect he's earned but you pay a agent to deal with contracts and clubs.

| Thanks for all your efforts J.D.
The most committed overseas signing I can remember.
My best memory will be the way he ran out of his own in-goal at Bradford, he has run his blood to water for this club, that’s all I could ask.
Good luck for the future.
