| Quote jools="jools"then you're another that looks a bit silly - and a smple google would have prevented it.
- and despite your comment you really are dismissing anxiety if you can say aww well he played 200 games so he cant be affected by anxiety. There are plenty of ways to become informed on the issue. I suggest you try some.'"
Hmm this all escalated quickly.
To clarify my personal view, I take mental health very seriously. Anxiety is a completely disabling issue for people.
If I was being patronising I was aiming that at you as I think you were exaggerating a one off incident to make out he'll be missing loads of games for us.
He suffered a panic attack after stress building up after a family bereavement. That is serious, shown by the very fact he thought he was having a heart attack.
His issue as far as I can tell was 4 years ago. Nothing since.
If he has issues now I'm sure Wakefield is a good place for him as MC and WP both strike me as humans who care about this kind of stuff.
I don't think it was something to raise in relation to his performance at the club, which is what you posted.

It's snowflake nonsense. Funny how you chose to bring it up only when the lad joined your favorite club.
Apology, dream on troll
, I've been reading the garbage you post on here for years and if anyone should apologise it's you the Hudds super troll.'"
I don't agree with you on this one.
Anxiety is very much a reason not to play.
It isn't about being a bit worried about something. Anxiety and panic attacks which go along with them make you feel like you can't move and possibly can't live. It can cause heart palpitations which can be damaging in themselves and for some mean you just can't function in normal society.
It's manageable for some not for others.
I agree that Jools is using it to troll, which is poor, but let's not make the mistake of lumping everyone into the snowflake mentality. Some people are, but many people are not and it appears Gaskell has had some experience of this.

| I'm not going to lock it as education is what is needed here.
Using phrases like stage fright shows a lack of knowledge about what the issue is here. It is far more serious than that.
Let's take this as an opportunity to Google it and find out more about it.

Why was she trolling?
I've read her post back and I don't see any trolling.
Let's say Lee had a stinker the week before and is struggling with anxiety before the game. The type you refer to as crippling. Is it unfathomable that he might withdraw for his own reasons and in the interest of the team?
The poster who went way OTT on the anxiety and mental health issues should probably contact SKY and tell them they needn't bother. As people should Man Up.

You're quite right Manuel. It was well publicised even in those unenlightened times.

| Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. Anxiety is a building block towards this. Anyone who dismisses this or uses it as Troll fodder want to simply be embarrassed of themselves. Chemical imbalances and life’s struggles all have an impact, because let’s face it life can be pretty crap at times, even for a child who I had to try but fail to resuscitate down in A & E from an overdose/ suicide. Everyone struggles, most just don’t say anything. Massive learning point for some people I reckon.

Big of you to share that Pat, can’t imagine that was easy on you either.
Massively important for men and women to speak up about this sort of thing, hopefully others (especially a few on here) realise that sooner rather than later.

| Interesting to see as this conversation takes place, Jansin Turgut is given the all clear to play RL again.
“Great news! I have had the all clear that I can play rugby league again. After battling mental illness leading to a suicide attempt, a month long coma, being told I may not walk again too overcoming mental health and nearly almost back fully fit. I feel amazing!“
