I can see why as he’s got the size but it seems a shame as he was the best forward on the pitch today at 13. Wouldn’t blame Poching if he had second thoughts about the 13 spot.

Aydin with another promising display too which only adds to our options at prop.

Liam Hood pick of the bunch for me today. Some crisp passing and we looked much more fluent around the ruck with him on, but the quality dropped when he went off. Whitbread probably pick of the props, but Aydin wasn't far behind. Took the ball in well and stood up to some big hits in the second half. Impressed again with Corey Hall, definitely a player with real potential. Davetanivalu got better as the match went on, with a bit more game time he could be quite a find. Overall a pretty decent outing with almost half a team still to come back.

Was a pretty decent run out, totally dominated first half. Thought hood was excellent but thought the off season has really made Kaye look more like a regular hooker, his passing from the floor was significantly quicker than last season.

Thought miller ran the game until he went off, Shame hall dropped couple potential interceptions as it would have been nice to see how much pace he actually has. John looks like he could be a serious contender on the wing.

Enjoyable afternoon out and am sure grid will have been impressed with the crowd. Be interesting to see both the team and how we perform against fev

Quote: Trojan Horse "As you say dominated for 60 minutes.

The 20 minutes of second half we dipped were because we didn’t really see possession. Fax we’re fortuitous in some repeat sets and six agains.

We had 5/6 young lads on for most of second half and in last 20 we actually put on a few scores with Bowes, Murphy, Butterworth, Shaw, Hall and Poching all on the field. This young crop look good.

Whitbread for me was excellent at 13! He took ball to the line before passing and was strong in yards and def. Hard to look past him for starting 13 on that performance. Lineham actually impressed me too. Ran well and found some offloads. Looked busy and fit too.

Davetanivalu looks like with a few games under his belt could be pushing for a spot in first team. Some very strong runs today and a good game from him.'"

I wasnt knocking the team i was mearly saying we controlled the game for 3 quarters of it only time we didnt was when we had a lot of younsters on and more importantly changes where constantly been changed which effects the game.also halifax arnt a bad side and at times they played well

Aside from the win I think it's fitting to echo what many have posted on social media and the reason for the game.

Congratulations on an incredible career, Scott.

This may be true on the day but no offence to Fax this was not first-class opposition, you can't decide his future on one pre-season friendly.

In truth, I don't know either but lack of size upfront for me dictates his position at least at the start of the season. Walker looks set for LF to me to start with but as the season progresses who knows.

For me, the props will be Fifita, Battye, Arona, Aydin and Whitbread, if the first four click and stay injury-free then we should see how he goes in a real game at 13 at some point.

I suppose the good thing to come from this is that we have a number of options to play players in positions if needed. I’m happy to back the coach on what he thinks is his best line up and I guess we will see in a few weeks.

Walker was good today. Think he was playing 6 but he was involved in a lot of the plays today and showed up well. I’d be happy to see him at 13. He did well with the boot today too.

Has the game changed in the closed season?

I only ask because I've read a number of times that Trinity 'edged' this game. When exactly was a 52 -24 scoreline edging it?

I'd call it a comprehensive victory, one you'd expect against lower league opposition. If you take out the 'fluffy' 20 minutes in the second half Fax were totally outclassed even though they showed plenty of guts.

I know friendly scorelines are meaningless but there is a limit eusa_hand.gif

I took it as being very polite to Fax as we most certainly did dominate for 3/4 of the match. Even with 5/6 of the young lads on last quarter we were well in control.

I think (only an opinion) that Whitbread will be one of the starting middles... in the modern game it doesn’t matter if thats 8,10 or 13... he has exceptional hands and is strong... almost tailor made for the British game... I was expecting Gaskell to be in the halves with Milky but I really like Brad Walker... his game is developing really nicely.

Halifax have a decent group of players and were very close to the top of the championship last year ... I hope the fundraising for Grix’s testimonial was good!
