If you can get him but not have to pay a big salary it's worth a shot for a season. He's not played 1st grade this season and only managed 12 game last season so there are risks. He's not the player he once was so don't be expecting him to be something he isn't.

If Sharks are willing to pay his wages they must have future plans for him, which suggests they don't see him as 'washed up' just yet and see his value - that in itself is good enough for me regarding his fitness and ability which just leaves his attitude...presumably he's also seeing this as a way of keeping match fit and playing his way either back into Sharks reckoning or into shop window.

For these reasons I'm gonna focus on the positives this move would bring...whilst keeping my fingers crossed...after all I was one of the original doubters when DF first signed and have been pleasantly surprised by the overall impact he's had across all of his time with us

If there is ANY Chance of signing A Fifita we should be snapping the hand off. A genuinely world class player and some people it seems genuinely think that he would not bring anything to this team??. The mind boggles.
IF he comes, he will not be 5th choice prop he will be first choice prop.
Yes there is a risk with his knee but well worth the gamble IMO.


On the struggling to lose weight issue. I might be on my own here, but Big Dave looks lighter than ever this season yet so far seems a little less effective.

Might not be as much of a slam dunk yet as is being reported. Cronulla are wanting to free up cap space, anything they have to pay still counts on their cap. So even if we went half & half we'd have to find around about 220K! And we've got to find a home for Tangata first as well otherwise he'll also need paying off.

Didn't anyone watch the pre season match Indigenous All Stars against the Maori All Stars ? It was a ferocious match Fifita looked to have lost a lot of weight he played the full 80mins and was described in commentary as the best forward in the game.

So would this be the equivalent of Wally Lewis coming all those years ago?!! Reading between the lines it does seem as if it's still a long way off from actually happening, but if it does, it could certainly be an interesting situation! Just one thing kind of linked, as re. taking gambles with players who have had injuries, i'm pretty sure Josh Wood came off last season with a makeshift sling for his arm/elbow, does he have a weakness there? I know he missed the whole season for Salford in 2019, but not sure what his injury was. I noticed someone else mentioned Anthony Tupou, and let's not forget Pauli Pauli who we signed after his car accident etc, we just don't seem to have a good track record recently, but if he does come, and in a couple of months more and more fans are allowed back, surely he would put a thousand or two on attendances?

Tbh would be totally amazed and delighted if he turned up - wish the deal had been done before it was informally announced
