Thank god for that !
Absolutely no to maguire
We already have one of the best stand offs in SL imo, why on earth would we want him
We have two options at SH with our budget
Try some one younger like williams with a point to prove (williams hasn't quite worked out imo) or some one with a fair bit of experience but with probably only a few years in the tank
The dream would be to have the scrum half version of miller
Point to prove and smashes it

| With the title of the thread, would signing a player who will be 35 next year be a really good thing and improve the squad in the long and short term.
Like Wrencat says though, in reality is he good enough for us nowadays.
Feel that if we are realistic about breaking into the top 4 and staying there, we need to really question signings that, one way or another, would be a gamble, which for me, this would be.
We are really between a rock and a hard place at the moment. For us to regularly compete with others while spending below the cap, with next years cap increase, it will probably become harder for us, so the signings we make have to be the right ones.
Sure Michael Carter said about our average crowd has to be 6000+, for us to be able to spend the full cap. I may be wrong, but if that was the case, I think we are under that figure.
Would be great to get those numbers in every week and match the cap as everyone else to level out the playing field even more

| Wouldn't bother with McGuire, as would probably be in the same category as Kirke or McShane.
If we have definitely signed Randell, then he's coming to play big minutes, just like Parcell and how many times does Parcell get subbed?
Use Kyle Wood as a half.

IIRC Wood has played at 7 for us only once away at Wigan either 2012 or 2013

| Yes he did BOJ42.
However, I think Williams was intended to be Finns successor, but it is sounding that he is likely to be returing to Australia at the end of the season.
At this stage, not certain Finn would go round again in 2019, so if the right half back came along, would be very tempted. Also really do need to have cover and competition in the halves.
Not sure about Wood as a starting 7 to be fair. Not had enough gametime in his career. He played most of his games for us in 2012 & 2013 as an impact player off the bench and think he did at Huddersfield

| One of Maguire's qualities was his speed. At his age he's bound to be slower than he was and that is a major factor.
It's a big NO from me!

| Quote: newgroundb4cas "Happy to have Randell in. Wood and him hooking immense. A replacement for Williams. A dangerous 2nd row and maybe a centre that can pass crisp to the best wingmen in the league. So I'd say 3. FB a tricky one not sure about Grix for another year. Not sure if he's good enough. If wait to see who gets relegated.
Agree with the guys released in previous post crowther doesn't look like he will ever reach standard unfortunately. Would defo sign Annakin up don't no what the delay is tbh.'"
So in your considered opinion what is it that makes Annakin who has had 5 or 6 seasons of being on the fringes a much better prospect than Crowther who has had 3 seasons less????
I like Annakin but let's be honest about it, how many other SL sides would he get in? I'm not suggesting that Crowther would at this point either but why is one worth a contract and the other not?

| Chester quoted in the YEP as saying he is hoping to bring a new player in within the next 24 hours to bolster the squad for the Super 8's

My thoughts also, his 2 year contract with the Knights was signed in March 2015, as far as i am aware he hasn't signed up an extension so could be out of contract.

I assumed that was a given, according to Hull fans they can't afford him on the salery cap.
I'd expect a new face being brought in.
