Excellent support from Phil Caplan on Twitter - unfortunately, Rod Studd, who spends a lot of time sucking up to MC, has decided to jump on the story as a way of highlighting the mistakes of previous boards, and banging on about the fact we should be sharing with Cas; he's also pushing the agenda that we want WMDC to provide us with a free stadium - which of course we don't.

Shame he opted to use his platform to stick the boot in, instead of getting behind the club and the City.

Yep. I noticed he also commented on Twitter that BV isn't actually the oldest sports ground in Sport and labelled the story '#FakeNews'. Wasn't sure whether to take this as 'banter' or defamatory, either way it's not really helping

He's being a dick in my view - he has a platform, claims to be a supporter of MC, but uses the opportunity to steer the narrative away from the actual story, for the sake of grandstanding about the behaviour of previous Chairmen over the past 30 years. And his latest input is to blame the fans who supported those Chairmen!

So much for the often touted but actually non-existent, 'rugby league family' eh?!

Rod now seems fixated on the fact that we want WMDC to pay for the stadium - despite that not being the case; MC has pointed out his factual errors, and he appears to have gone quiet...

As a resident of Ossett and lifelong Wakefield citizen, I would be interested to know your position on the failure of WMDC to carry out its statutory duty as the Planning Authority, to enforce the s106 agreement with Yorkcourt Properties, in respect of a Community Stadium at Newmarket Lane, Stanley.

This agreement was made several years ago and since that time, Peter Box has repeatedly denied that WMDC have any part to play in this and instead, that it is for the property developer and the Community Trust to resolve; I believe this to be untrue and am appalled that he is able to abrogate responsibility – particularly when the developer has benefited from 220 acres of Green Belt land. This situation has been made worse by the fact that WMDC have since allowed the developer to build the Newcold site there, without it contributing to the trigger point for the Community Stadium that the s106 agreement specified – a situation that was prescribed by HM Inspector, and supported by a 15,000 signature petition.

At a time when Wakefield is reported to have some of the worst sports facilities in the country, and a dreadful record around childhood obesity, I am in disbelief that Mr Box appears to have conspired with a property developer to rob the people of Wakefield of much needed community sports facilities.

Please advise of any action you are able to take to hold Mr Box and his colleagues to account.
