| I got slated a few weeks back and yet today's performance proves my point, the players haven no respect for smith. The supporters think he was the saviour winning 1 game against a championship side. The players want him out, his methods are out of date. Mr Billy big time attitude. Bring back Jk or Richie Marshall best young coach around.

| In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion,[3] often for their own amusement
Apologies didn't realise I wasn't allowed to put that.

| He took over a e team who were conceding 40 points on average. No matter who was in charge it a tough ask to change that round.

£10 to charity says you are wrong.
I have a lot of confidence in Smith.
He'll get the best from this team. How good that is remains to be seen of course.

| I am trying to give him the benefit of the doubt for now.
He isnt the one that drops the ball, misses the tackles.
However, he is the one that brought all the players in, and picks the players. He is also the one that is looking to where they are going wrong.
One fact is though, only one win against super league opposition in a meaningful game, to me is a problem. He has had about 15 games now against super league teams

| Okkk, so since James Webster departed, I think the number of competitive games is well over 20 now, obviously contested by lots of different players and under 2 coaches, Dickens and Smith. We have also had a pre-season obviously. We have won 5 games I think in that time, beating the same team twice, and winning against SL opposition once. To my mind, we have had only one convincing performance, that was against Bradford first time around. Everything else has been a struggle, in defeat and the odd rare victory, nothing comprehensive or actually anything that gives massive hope for the future so it would seem. There's two ways of looking at it when BS took over, at how difficult a job it was to turn things around. Obviously under Webster it was pretty shocking at times, and a change had to be made. So BS took over a bit of a shambles of a 'team' and was basically brought here to keep us up, which he duly did, so therefore he was a success? But is it not easier to take over a team not performing, than to follow a guy who was been successful? I'm thinking Ferguson here, as in Moyes and LVG are now kind of on a hiding to nothing trying to follow greatness.
How much 'progress' under him has actually been made given how bad it was before he took over? I think last June, if someone had said, in your first 15 SL games under him, you will only win 1, most would have said doubt it, that would be pretty disappointing, but is it fair to judge him when some of those matches he used as 'trial' games if you like. For me the jury is still out on Brian Smith, and if he indeed is all that, i'm just not sure we have made the progress we all expected, or at least hoped for by now, I think he has been around the club long enough now to be having a positive effect, on performances and ultimately results, so lets hope they start happening sooner rather than later.....

| Somebody questioned earlier i the week as to whether the players had the respect from Brian Smith.
Today looked like they do.
If there was any thought of that, is it some of the older players who have been here a while who haven't got the respect, who don't like working harder in the week, compared to how it was.
No Kirmo, no Scruton, and we win.

Dont think it's a respect issue to be fair, but Simon was like a steamroller today.
I'm a fan of Scrutons but that kind of running from Simon and Annakin won us the game imo. Actually gave Finn and Miller some room to play in, although admittedly they didn't do a great deal with it, but their pack was kept on the back foot throught.
Much improved defense as well for the full 80, considering how many tackles we had to make - no sign of the collapse from the Cas game.

| That was a very hard fought win today against some odd decisions by the ref one example already mentioned elsewhere they knock on their player picks ball up no Wakey player near through out the passage of play and they get the decision. If the players had no respect for Smith that game would have been a loss as they all had to work hard for it

| Word from our coach following yesterdays win at KR yesterday:
"speak to our fans, who expect some sort of a lightning bolt that will transform Wakefield. It just doesn't work like that. "This was not one of those days - it's a nice reward for the players for their hard work. It's an accumulation of trying to get the best out of each other, day after day. "We can't just flick a switch. It's going to take a sustained long-term approach."
Maybe this applies more to some fans than to others but, we have to have patience, no doubt about it and Smith is the man to take us forward.

| Was very impressed with Smiths comments about the long term approach. Now that we have Simon and Anakin in the match day 17 I think that we will start to have some go forward back up for England. Got to say both Walker and Yates went well on Saturday, good to have pressure on places Scruton ( who I thought was our best forward last season ), Anderson and Kirmond perhaps making way for the younger guns, its the natural way of things.

Pretty much sums up what most sensible people have already been saying; the culture at the club was all wrong, and even with all his years of experience and expertise, it's not fixable overnight. Change is a process, not an event...
Of course the pressure of potential relegation means that process has to be hot-housed and accelerated, but it's something that with the best will in the world, takes time. I guess the hope is that when BS departs at the end of this season, a replacement has been pre-planned - and that replacement is someone who will carry on the work that has already been started, rather than go for a new broom approach.

I know that it's very early days Bren but, I hope that he can stay longer.
A bloke of his calibre and experience can put good things in place for the long term future of the club.
There are very few people around, especially those that would come to Wakefield, that have the ability that Smith has
to get us on the right track and keep us there.
This guy understands the big picture.
