3. Berwick. Some Championship One players have played internationals, does that make them experienced enough for SL? If so, why are they not in SL?

The reason why i mentioned you getting burnt out was because your used to a level where your up against part time teams and that you might get a shock when playing the big physical teams of SL. Which is an improvement for Leigh, who previously were consigned to life in a promotion-less Championship. Maybe not so good for teams that were on the right side of the drawbridge.

Leigh have been doing extremely well for the last few seasons and certainly last season, plus the start of this, your club looks a class above the rest of the Championship and if your form continues, you certainly will have earned the right to compete in the top flight.

It is a crying shame that the new format will not allow any promoted club to develop and prosper within it's structure.

However hard you fight and with "successful" first season back in the top flight, you will still be tasked with fighting for SL survival (in the qualifiers league).

It's good news that there is a pathway back to the top flight for all of the Championship clubs but, the and promoted club will need 2 or 3 seasons to get up to speed and this luxury is not afforded under the current structure.
Indeed, the lower half of SL will struggle to keep pace with the top half of the comp and this may well lead to a reduced top flight in years to come and then both of our clubs will be screwed.

A marker of the task Leigh would face is how many of their current team would get into our side when fully fit? Maybe one of the halfbacks to replace Miller, which one depends on whether you want a kicking game or a support player alongside Smith. Neither though have been tested at the top level. Hock probably if he can get himself fit, something which he is a way off right now. You could argue for Liam Kay but he has already been released by us and Owen & Riley are proven SL players have over 300 tries between them at that level so maybe/maybe not. At an absolute push Moi Moi might get a spot but he is on the decline now, proven by his past couple of seasons in the NRL. Running over Hunslet & Donnys part time players is one thing but doing it week in, week out against fulltime seasoned pro's is another. The rest it's ours everytime, and they are the ones ranked bottom of superleague. Where will all the required quality come from and can it be afforded?

Leigh could well beat us in a one off cup game, in fact it wouldn't surprise me one jot if they did given where both teams are mentally this season. They are a very good team at their level, playing full of confidence and with great spirit. We are the opposite. But if Leigh were to get promotion they would have to splash some serious cash and tear up their current squadt to be competitive, otherwise it would be a distant bottom place for them. That tends to wreck the team spirit straight away but so does losing every week. Given that the clubs are likely to vote in a marquee player cap allowance plus a home grown allowance the distance between the haves and have nots is going to grow. Unless you have very deep pockets then its perennial struggle for many.

Please don’t compare this Leigh team with the shambles of 2005, this team has been steadily built over the last couple of seasons and is now full time building for SL, 2005 was a part time team trying to go FT and mainly new recruits and very poor ones at that. This Leigh team is far better than the 2005 one.

If we did manage to go up the majority of this team will be playing SL, yes I expect it to require bolstering, but we've been doing that anyway with FFMM, Hock, etc and yes I’d expect us to probably be in the bottom 4 but provided we continue to build then perhaps in a couple of seasons who knows, 2021 we will win the challenge cup, as we do every 50yrs, this season we’ll get knocked out in the semis.

As for would any of our players get into your team, well most championship teams supporters say that as well , someone from SKY (O'Connor?) ask Rowley how he’d managed to get this Crazy gang to work? Clueless and disrespectful are two words that come to mind when reading some of the posts on this thread. Just spotted the old get out....... 'You may beat us in a one off game', comparisons with something that happened 10 years ago, the other team had injuries ie Salford only had a 2 man bench, well Leigh only used 3 of their bench. A team that is unbeaten at home in 18 months, have won the last 21 competitive games deserves some respect whatever competition they are in. A coach that goes out to win every game rather than one who doesn't give a stuff about the next 12 games deserves respect.

I cannot believe the Wakey fans seem not to be bothered by the attitude of your Board and Management. Giving up after just a third of the season is an absolute disgrace. Your coach has decided to play russian roulette with your SL survival.

You couldn't be further from the truth. We are bothered and those of us who bought season tickets feel as though we are not getting the commitment back that we made to the club ~ on the comments made by one employee.

I appreciate we have suffered a lot of injuries but I personally want to see a determination to win attitude. I don't mind losing if our players look interested and as passionate as we are to want the win.

Thursday will be interesting because we could have the full committed Wakey turn up or the I can't be bothered crew.
