| How disappointing. All most Wakefield fans want is the team to be competitive.
It was mistake after mistake. No composure or grunt from the pack who were terrible from 8-17.
Poore needs to have a long, hard look at himself in the mirror and ask himself if he thinks that is good enough. He is ex-NRL and State of Origin & our man of grunt/pack leader/hard man, is there a fitness issue or worse is it in his head?
There is a positive. R.A. recognises the problem area - the forwards who were a joke & seemed to be easily outmuscled & over run by Bradford. Hopefully Andy Raleigh will be back with Tim Smith next week but they can only do so much.
Agar before the game - "We got to know last year what a good performance looked like. The players could really relate to what style of football and what a good performance actually looked like and what they need to do to get their jobs done in a good fashion, so we need to find that quickly."
Another performance like that and I'd be sending Singleton back to Leeds and the other sub standard forwards into the reserves giving Annakin and Trout a run.

| A lot of players didn't look fit today. The ones who have been injured and not played in the friendlies could be excused, but the others? They had no excuse!
One thing that must be cut out in future games is Aiton throwing forward passes from dummy half on the 2nd and 3rd tackle. He was guilty of it last season on many occasions. You might as well just put the ball into an opposition players hands and say ''here, have 6 tackles instead of us''.

So did Walker too.
I wasn't seeking to refute what you said, in the slightest. I was saying it was highly interesting to hear the observations of a neutral on this subject. Many Bulls fans have been bemoaning - and fans of other clubs deriding - what they judged to be a "lightweight" pack - and not just because we are deemed to be at least one prop light. Today, and your observations, make me wonder whether the concern there might be a tad overdone?
That said, we are critically short of strength in depth in some areas, so a few injuries and it'll likely be a different story. And next week will be an extremely stern test.

| It was fairly evident most of the pack we're unfit. We've too many players returning from injuries or who have been unavailable to play enough games in preseason.
Even so, we lacked enthusiasm, fitness and organisation. That performance was unacceptable, and Tim Smith wouldn't have changed the result. Bradford deserve alot of credit they played attractive rugby and thoroughly deserved the victory.
It's round one, we started last season poorly and managed to finish with a bang. Hopefully we can't perform any worse than we did today but today was a reality check for some. Attitude is far more important than ability and we were found wanting in both today.

| A welcome reality check to be honest, it took a lot of hard work and spirit to put the playoff charge together last year. If any of them were getting complacent then it definitely showed today.
Still, it's a new start, new season - let's not judge Poore too much at this stage either, he's definitely got a presence and if he can adapt to SL over a few games he's got the potential to be a cracking enforcer.
The players will be getting a beasting in training this week ahead of the first home game, hopefully Smith will be back and we will see the real Wakefield stand up against KR.

| Statistics on this morning Super League full time programme showed us having only a 52% completion rate and being hammered 8-17 in the penalty count. Add to that the fact we got zero from about a dozen 50:50 decisions from Thaler and you can't win a game with those sort of numbers.
Having said that Warrington managed to win with only a 54% completion rate!

| Can anyone explain what happened for Bradford's third try??? They played the ball, scored, then the play was brought back for what looked to be a forward pass but Bradford still had possession???

| That was a terrible performance - unrecognisable from the team that finished last season on such a high; god only knows what's behind it, but for virtually an entire team to play like U8's, something has to be up.
I thought Mathers was the stand-out for us - apart from that nasty bounce right at the beginning, he worked his backside off; made the tackles that he needed to, put his body on the line and did his level best to create some attacking structure when it became obvious that nobody else could.
Bradford were good for the win but aside from enthusiasm, I'm not sure what it tells us about them - they didn't have to do anything spectacular to tear us apart; when the smallest man on the pitch makes a straight drive from the base of a scrum and goes through every half a dozen defenders, that pretty much tells its own story.
As for Mr Thaler - I'm not sure if one of our lads took a particularly nasty dump in the ref's khasi before the game, but it was clear he wasn't going to give us anything right from the off; we wouldn't have won that game if I'd been reffing it, but a fair crack doesn't seem like too much to ask.
A thoroughly disappointing afternoon and some major improvements required for next week.

| Seven pages so far on a thread on the Wakey board NOT started by a Wakefield fan. Am I approaching some sort of World Record?
FWIW, results yesterday were very telling. OK so you got a bit of a doing but I believe one or two sides will at Odsal this season so that in itself is not a massive concern. If I was a fan of London, Saints, Cas, Salford or Hull KR then I would be a bit worried. They all got a bit of a doing, and, certainly in the case of St Helens and London, in games that they had surely pencilled in as home wins.
Wakefield will be fine. You are certainly better than a few in the league and will always be capable of getting a few results at home.
Onwards and upwards. I certainly think that there is more to be positive than negative about with your side at the moment. I know that I can be a right wind-up merchant but deep down I know that you are a PROPER RL club and in its' current state we need as many as we can get.
All the best.

We were off-side - penalty - but the ref played advantage until the forward pass - then back to the penalty.

Penalised us for being off side even though Bradford pass mile forward, that passage of play summed it up for me we were poor but nothing went our way.

He was right though - we were off-side before they threw the forward pass!
