We need to look maybe 2 years in the future to look at how a young coach would go but as I said maybe Francis Cummins,Jimmy Lowes,Nigel Wright and although not young Daryl Powell probably still has alot to prove at SL level.'"
Nigel Wright is an interesting one - why - because he learnt his coaching in the NRL.
As for Noble he wasn't much more creative than Kear but had a team Kear would have given his right arm for. That said there was nothing wrong with Kears style of play until recently when he could depend on players like Danny Brough.

| Never thought about the NRL side of it but have no problem where he learnt a bit of coaching the problem is like with alot of aussie players the 2nd rate coaches are only coming for a pay day and as a way of getting a job back home cos no aussie club will take a chance on them.
I will back any coach we get as he will be our coach but would prefer to try and go British if possible.

I mentioned it because he is British but has an insight into the NRL which is the premier league by some way. That broadens his outlook IMO and puts him head and shoulders above any other potential British coach other than he has not coached a lower league side.

Thought he coached Barrow?

Hmm - Michael Maguire, Nathan Brown, Brian Potter, Trent Robinson - 2nd rate?
I'd love to agree with you on the British front, but you tell me where the up and coming young British coaches are all hiding?
It has to be an Aussie assistant from an NRL set-up, mentoring a British coach to take over in a few years time. That's the only way to get the NRL methods, technique and attitude into our club.

| Quote: wildcat13 "Never understand why when a coach leaves a club they automatically go for an unknown aussie.
People are always talking about bringing British coaches through and now is the ideal time for us to keep to our policy of British players with a sprinkling of experienced Aussies and find a British coach.
Although Nobby is no spring chicken he has a wealth of experience and could groom a coach for the future, maybe somebody like Cummins(Francis)who is nowhere near ready but could be in afew years.
Also I think Nobby would possibly be able to attract players that would not normally look at us twice.'"
How often have Wakey gone for an unknown Aussie? It's certainly a better option than picking a Peter Roe or Jimmy Lowes, who we approached before Kear. We need somebody who knows the way the game is going and is up to date with the most modern coaching and training techniques. With a British number 2 learning alongside the head coach we could have the best of both worlds. Or we could go for JD or Poching as they seem the most popular options!

As for Noble, if Kear has had his day so has Noble.
Sad thing is the National Leagues are not creating the kind of coaches who are knocking on the door in the same way as the NRL's lower leagues do.'"
What about Iestyn Harris, not done all that well this season mainly through injuries but has got a season under his belt, and certainly has the right pedigree.

I think you should give thanks to have held your license and, as vastman says, don't get too carried away. Next year will be costly and that's before you start work on the new stadium. Kear is a fine coach and has done a sterling job for Wakey in difficult circumstances. He doesn't deserve the chop, and don't be too sure that there will be a queue of 2nd tier Aussie coaches wanting to join you in your current, safe but hardly exciting, position.

| although i would love to see jk sacked, i think A.G should now keep him at the club for making the tea and coffee whilst his contract runs out. appoint tony drury till the end of the season whilst searching for a new coach and then also get rid of beans and head of sport science colin. then i will gladly wave them all a fond farewell. bye bye mr loyalty.

Absolutely no need for that level of vitriol or personal attacks; you're an asshat.
