Because of this deal if Tesco try and go on the site I would imagine there would be a large legal battle.'"

Was it "friar trucks"? He had a route through peacock and his fish and chips were cracking.

ahh leo's another blast from the past - remember fund raising for the cub scouts there, cleaning shoes and packing bags.

i also remember (like many on here) my mum carrying a full weekly shop from hillards.

but we did get our bread on a friday afternoon from the shop (can't remember if it was a butchers or bakers) on the parade of shops on waterton road (morrisons end)

a proper loaf - not sliced!!!

I nearly got a job there too.

Was desperate to earn some cash as a teenager and lied about my age. Bottled it when they asked me to bring proof of age, NI number etc. Then got a Saturday job at the local greengrocer on Busy Corner. Best job I ever had, and best boss to boot.

I honestly can't remember if it had a name.

I certainly remember Leo's though - we used to go in there at dinner time from Thornes House, specifically for the purpose of shoplifting something to eat, so we could buy fags with our dinner money.

My dad used to be manager at Leo's many many moons ago, when microwave ovens 1st came out Leo's held a draw for one, you have no idea how many forms we had to fill in to win that bloody thing. We was classed as posh for a while after that.

Nah!

I would wait all day and watch half a dozen ice cream vans come and go so that I could get proper ice cream from Lumbs.

I liked Lumbys but antonios couldn't be beaten for value. Used to live riding on the back of the shop van to see how long you could go before he sussed you where on there!

i was a fan of lumb's as well. i remember that the shop on barnsley road was one of the very few shops (like the bon bon) that was open on a sunday.

also, lumb's used to stop right outside our house. the carton of ice cream we bought used to fill up the little freezer compartment on our fridge!!

Fact to consider:

If Tescos can build a new store on Ings Road would they be so interested in building another one one WR?

WR is potentially dogged with problems (transport, ASDA objecting, impact on town ect) where as Ings road has an existing road network that supported another super market. eusa_think.gif eusa_think.gif eusa_think.gif

Could they be chancing their hand with 2 sites? eusa_think.gif eusa_think.gif eusa_think.gif

Go with the city and make them travel (on the bus) icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

Because its miles from Ings road and won't pick up the same customer base maybe.
