| this is the Jarrad Hickey I saw playing Sydney....
is it the same one you ahve at Belle Vue?? the one I saw was a pretty good player!
however you have to remember that some players are trained specifically to play a role in NRL and play in a very structured set up... they do their job and everybody else does their job.... and the team play well... take the structure away and the individual looks less effective.

The fault, if there is any, lies with his selection for 1st team duty, if JK says your picked what's he supposed to do?
I know everyones unhappy at the level of fitness he has arrived with but the guys 6'6" and obviously has a propensity to put weight on, he's been denied the chance to train with a team and hasn't played for a year so it's easy or a bloke of that size to be 2 stone overweight really quickly.
Could he have turned up fitter, yes but there must have been times over th last 6 months when he looked on from Thailand and thought the deal with Trinity would never happen and that he'd played his last game of Rugby League, in those circumstances it must be really hard to motivate yourself to train like a professional Rugby League payer needs to.
Let's not alienate this bloke before we get to see what he offers us when fit!'"
Clan, whilst I definitely agree with you that Kear is as much to blame as Hickey, he is doing a good job of alienating the fans with his comments on Twitter. Telling a fan to f off on a public meesage site is not the way a pro player should conduct himself, and his comment about true fans, shows he has no idea what it takes to be a Wakey fan, we have had 30 years of hard times puncuated by the odd good year - so we know all about sticking with the club.
If he gets fit and starts putting in some good performances then he will get the fans support, until then he needs to take the flak on the chin and get on with it

| Watching Hickey today, should have been accompanied by the Benny Hill theme tune... it was laughable at times...

I'm not going to defend his comments, they're wrong and he's out of order.
His comments though are a reaction to what fans are shouting at him at games and the criticism he's getting on Twitter which, while being a social network is a two way form of communication and if someone want to criticise him there then they shouldn't be surprised to get an answer, albeit not like the one he gave.

| Where Hickey is wrong is for getting so out of condition, the club are wrong for realising he is so out of condition and playing him.
I'm reasonably confident that there is (or should be) a condition in the contract of a professional sportsman's contract that says he has got to be fit for the job he is going to be carrying out.
The Bulls released Tupou from his contract for not being available to play because of injuries and fitness, in my mind this (Hickey) is worse.
He may well turn out to be a great player for us, and on reflection we should be careful not to ostricise him, but he and the club need to realise they are both at fault and this gives some of our more fickle supporters the reason they need to stop coming (again!!!!).
IMO the supporters and the rest of the squad have been let down badly by both the individual and the club.

That would be the Blaymire who played well, one of the few - you really are a dullard on this one.
You pal were Hickeys biggest fan before he arrived yet you slagged Higgins in comparison. Higgins has been a great buy, Hickey looks a disaster - please explain why you continually get it so wrong yet shame faces continue your vendetta against Blaymire - pathetic as is your love child Hickey.

I dont know where you get this 6'6'' so he will put weight on i am 6'4'' and have lost over a stone and a half just by eating properley, i am not having a go here but he's not been eating properley and he likes his beer "who doesnt". I hope we can get him in to shape and i hope he's not here for the money or another club if he gets fit.

Widders is a fat man and couldn't hack it in the NRL. However he appears to be a fat and fitter man who can play good RL for 10 minutes each half.
Hickey is nowhere near that good. I'd live with it if he were at least fit, not being paid as much and not being picked ahead of Higgins and Korki.

Size has nothing to do with it when you read the game and position well. Brad Davis was better on 1 leg than 2.
I don't watch..
...every week but he appears to have all the time in the world when he's up against us, sometimes I think Widders would be a far better for Cas than Chase.
King yesterday casually trotted it up yesterday, turned in the tackle and gave a quality offload. It's discipline and working for the team. I lost count of how many Hull forwards ran soft yesterday with a view to offload, draw players, play the ball quickly or just get better attacking field position.

In fairness to Hickey, his 'beer' comment on Twitter doesn't look as bad if you understand the context; he was actually replying to a fellow player who asked how the game had gone and he said "highs and lows" then added a hashtag comment #thankgodforbeer.
That's very different to saying "I am getting bladdered after the game and have no respect for WTW, the fans or my fellow professionals."
So, whilst he does need to get dramatically fitter and fast, I don't necessarily blame him for telling Upton Cat to eff off; he was responding to a fairly personal attack - what was he supposed to say?
On another note - in my view, all players and staff should get themselves off Twatter and stick to text messaging each other; it almost never looks good on them or their respective club when their 'banter' is made public.
Take a look at Tommy Lee's feed to see another example by the way - some Cas idiot sledging him about how e WTW are and how we'll never get a new stadium etc. Potty.

Well that's the greatest insult of all, both to the fans and the other players. It's a hard world and if u take big bucks you have to live up to it. This lad is not an unknown like Korki or BJ were, yet he nowhere near as good as they were on arrival. I'm really shocked by the state of this lad, even slightly concerned for his well being to be honest - he simply shouldn't be on the pitch.
I'm a Kear fan but playing him is not right IMO and a mistake on many levels. He simply should have been sent packing on arrival, it's harsh but as a RL player basic fitness is not an option.
