| Quote: Tommy Duckfingers "Apart from taking a relegated Leigh side to the top you mean? I dont think he could have done any more could he?
do you have any examples of youngsters he has ruined?'"
I think he'd ruin our youngsters.
In the 15 years of SL a number of Coaches have won the NL1 or performed brilliantly - how many became SL Coaches?
You want Millard you have him, I don't want him I think he's poor as was proved when he went back to Australia was it not?
You can afford to get the odd player wrong but not your Coach. If we have to get rid of the best Coach we have had in 30 years and that includes Toppo then he needs to be great IMO. Sadly that probably means an Aussie, and if so I want the hottest most radical young gun they have and not old stagers picking up a pension which to me is Millard.

| There are valid arguments for both camps, but the 'Who else is there' IMO doesn't fly.
Nathan Brown, Tony Smith, Brian Smith, Graham Murray, Stuart Raper, Matthew Elliott, Michael Maguire and to some extent Shaun MacRae.
Over in this country were all relative unknowns (to most people) and have all had some success or changed the fortunes of the clubs they were given the chance with. So yes it is partly true that there is nobody that we know of, but there is always somebody who can take clubs to another level.
Yes, Kear has been unlucky with his budget restrictions. At Hull had more than he has to work with at Wakey, he won the cup, but failed to go any further. No matter what the politics of his downfall at Hull the fact is he hit his peak. That is not a bad thing and is testament to the man. He is without a doubt a great motivator, but how long can the same motivational speeches work until they become stale.
The win over Huddersfield was as much to do with team managing the conditions as it was down to any motivation. I dare say if we were still playing through the winter we would grind out more wins like that. The fact is as good as Kear is as getting the best out of any player even he has a limit of ability and is not the 'god' some people make him out to be. I have never been a Kear fan but credit where it is due, his motivation skills were the reason we survived. He has simply hit is peak with us, whether that is because of recruitment or his coaching style, that's for another debate.
Some people have suggested to get rid now, but he is in the last year of his contract and lets face it results over the remainder of the season will make no difference to Lewis's Rimmer, Wood. Surely the best option would be see out this season and see what division the club is going to be in. It is way too late for knee jerk reactions now, that ship has long sailed.

That just shows the difference between success and the mediocrity we as Wakefield Supporters accept.

Did he have time, I see no correlation with winning Knockout Cup and the League. Winning one doesn't automatically mean you will win the other and certainly not within a year.
That's an opinion not a fact.

We don't accept it - you get the Wakefield public to back their team and then we won't.
It's the chicken and the egg and has been for years. Understanding why we are mediocre if indeed we are is different to accepting it. If we accepted it this forum would be a quiet place.

NO it is a fact, the results for the following year showed that. His own history is a statement of fact, he is a great motivator in knock out scenarios. Sheffield & Hull winning the cup and our own survival was a mini knock-out competition, had we lost we were out.
If you do want pick holes in other people disagreeing with you your point of view at least have the decency to keep it in context and not highlight one sentence with a word or phrase from another part of the post to make your point. I really don't give a damn whether you agree with me or not, but then that is the point of a forum isn't it?
As far as I can see my laptop has the web address rlfans.com not thevastmanprophecies.com.

How can you say we don't accept mediocrity when as soon as somebody suggests a change then the likes of you and others shoot them straight down, with there isn't a better option?

No it's an opinion. I have a different opinion on why that happened and it's similar to Kears. However I'm big enough to admit it's just an opinion as I wasn't at Hull in the dressing room at the time.
I don't need your permission to pick holes in your postings or guidance thanks. Last time I looked, FACT wasn't trinfan71's registered trademark.

| Quote: newgroundb4cas "Totally agree Kear as done a miracle getting us 7 wins. When he had money we got our highest ever position in SL and a semi final of a cup. He didn't even have over much money. You people who are against him make me laugh. There is no coach in the world or even jesus christ that would make Josh Vievers into a Billy Slater he as done his best. Hes done great to get a team together let alone competing week in week out.'"
1 of those wins were against a team 2 divs below us.
getting to the semi final of the challenge cup was against lower league opposition, when we came up against a meciocre SL team in the semi's we failed.
Why did Kear the man you praise waste money on a player you pour scourn on.
Nobody is saying he has not done okay for us but simply it is time for him to move on, unless of course we drop into the championship whereby playing against inferior opposition from a lower league Kear will prove his worth against those said clubs'.

| I can believe some of the posters who have turned on Kear.
What I'm surprised about is some of those who I thought wouldn't. Did the collapse of the old club and the virtual destruction of the previous team never happen.
To be honest I'm a bit bemused reading some of what I've read on here.
Still I'm sure a win against Hull should it happen will see a massive mood swing occur yet again.
Fickle beyond belief...and yes that's my opinion, not a fact just an opinion.

| Quote: TRB "I have that completely different!
Noble came in when the club were in danger of relegation; built a new side and were competitive throughout his tenure. The crowds got behind the club big time whilst he was there and it is almost entirely his squad which won the league under Maguire.
He also did a sterling job with Crusaders and got them from no-where to play-offs!
I know he's benefited from other circumstances, but I would have him at BV in the blink of an eye!
In 5 years of SL the bulls didn't finish out of the top 5 prior to Noble becoming manager, IMO the bedrock of that era of the club was fashioned by Brian Smith and Mathew Elliot.
Sorry don't rate him.
