I agree that we look a tad light in the centres if injuries strike. Wouldn't want George playing centre week in week out just yet though, think at the top level he needs bringing into the position gradually with a game there now and again. Ditto Griffin. I supppose regarding Semi a lot depends on Greg Johnsons off field issues as well. If he's going to be 'unavailabe' for a while then Tadulala signing as cover wouldn't be the worse move in the world. I guess the club will know the ins and outs and have to plan accordingly.

Still don't reckon that he could have been the 'exciting' signing though, 'cos he isn't!

That's true enough I certainly wouldn't call him that, I'd go for useful - but as in all these thinks where did that actually come from and was it meant about Semi?

Ok he not too hot in defence, but so are a lot of other wingers/centres, but forgetting his defensive weekness, he is as fast as anyone else in a straight line and can shift sideways while going at a hundred miles an hour.
Only once did we put in a half decent kick for him to chase, against quins i think, and if it had gone 5-10 yards further it was as certain a try as you would like to see.
Any team with a good kicking game and speed, and who use both are in with a shout, not only directly but by keeping the opposition full back a little deeper, thus giving a nice chippable gap from a keen eyed half back to exploit.
I aren't saying Penny is the best, i'm not even saying he's the best we've got, just that with the right game plan he could be a success.

Yea on loan in 2009 in build up and victory in NRC final. But then Wire recalled in for one game before Challenge Cup final and he missed rest of season with us

He was a revelation here, scored plenty of tries, got the crowd buzzing and with full crowd / coach support he also looked fine in defence so hopefully we'll see the same again

No you're not. I feel sorry for 99.9% of players who give it their best and certainly achieve more than most on here. That's why I really hate the personal bagging that some indulge in - you know lazy, half ars*d that kind of stuff. There is a very fine line between players that make it and those that don't. Further some should have made it and some who do shouldn't, it's never clear cut.

I don't doubt his effort.

However as I've said before he has two problems both not really his fault.

He was late into the game and it shows, he just hasn't got the basics and shows few signs of gaining them and we have not the time to teach him. He'd have got away with this 5-6 years ago but as a new breed of cradle to first team players come through it's looking bleak.

Secondly he's a small and slight man in a big mans game. You have to be either very gifted or have great technique and toughness both mental and physical to overcome that. I can't see either in Penny Im afraid.

He's done well for a quick lad signed from Basketball but maybe it's time for all to admit that NL is more probably his level.
