Rumour mill in over drive, can anyone actually prove anything, nah though not just a lot of hot air.

Over the past two weeks or so I've had a number of people; five in fact, tell me that things at the club were not left in a state which allowed the smoothest of transitions from the old regime to the new.

Each one of those conversations was individually held with people who were not connected with each other but all had credible, first hand connections with the club. All the conversations had a common thread regarding the alleged spoiling that had gone on prior to handover.

Having just had an illuminating conversation a few things have been put in perspective and other issues have been explained which shed a different light on the scorched earth theory, I'll add that my conversation was not with Vastman or anyone else who frequents this board.

It seems that Vastman may well be correct in stating that this was very much a smear campaign which gained credibility and momentum through unhappy coincidental problems at the club.

I've largely kept quiet about what’s happened over the last few months, however this seemed to be an act of malice and, after refraining from doing so, I posted what I’d heard regarding what had supposedly happened, however I now think I was wrong.

So forgive me for inadvertently fanning the flames of this rumour, it wasn’t my intention to lend credibility to it and set off a fierce debate between forum members. I’m all about the truth and consequences for those who deserves vilification but in this instance it’s me that’s wrong.

Oh dear this gets worse Clan, now we all want to know who's chucked the smear campaign at us.

The problem is, the club have only communicated poorly since getting into Super League. Even with a local radio station for this city (and now, there are at least another 3, including Radio Leeds), and a website, it was 'exclusive' after 'exclusive' through the Wakey Express. And look where that got us! Not that employing anyone around the club to deal with the media ever helped either...

BUT, that is why we have ended up with these posts on this thread.

From the embryonic community on Dale's site over a decade ago, through the nonsense that was filling the forums with silly games and posts from the 'Chief Egg' to the banning of the original forum, there have always been posters who, for whatever reason, are privy to information that the general supporter was not aware of.

For whatever reason, whether that's getting close to Ted through WiSCA - who, could be argued, worked too closely with the club, and found themselves defending them at every turn, or any other body where contact with key people in the club, which led to little leaks and secret info not for us who also pay to watch the club week in, week out, season in, season out.

Is that a shocker? No, but rather than post titbits and boost profile, those posters should have kept quiet from day one, because, like the 'Chief Egg' as soon as the going gets tough, the info dries up.

I hope that whoever is voted on to the Supporters Trust remembers that it was not just mistrust between board and supporters that has bred over the last 10 years, but within supporters as a whole.

The best case for all is that the new regime keeps 'willing volunteers' at arms length (certainly not employing them for being related to someone else and employed as a favour or because they'll do it on the cheap) and runs the club as a business and not as a social group and family and friends.

Hard pill to swallow for some? Maybe. But, together we are stronger, but some stronger than others is a more accurate portrayal of the situation.

just a lot of speculation, people putting 2+2 together allied to the transitional problems and a willingness to blame the departing management, mix in some Chinese Whispers and a few credible people repeating what they've heard (me included) and it all seemed too strong for it not to be true, I don't think it is true now and I wish I'd kept my trap shut.

I see ALL points of view in this little squabble but unless it effects our FUTURE i don't really care, sick of looking into the past.

Fair enough. I'm not seeking absolution for anyone, but it is a fact that when someone leaves an organisation there are always some skeletons in the cupboard - and usually no-one to defend the departed. In this case it is much worse because of the public nature of the roles involved.

It's not a call to arms - just a bit of reflection.

Excellent post and it is hoped that through the Supporters Trust the supporters work alongside the club and that any info available to fans is available to all and not just the chosen few. It is also hoped that all the fans get a chance to participate in the re building through dialogue and skills.

well I am not part of the loop here either and believe if there is truth to be told then it is told to all
