| People keep banging on about Kear's loyalty to the club or the club's loyalty to Kear seems the place we need loyalty is on the terraces.'" ]
I agree that we need the fans to stick with the club (and as one of the main baggers of Kear on here - have bought a season ticket for next year). I however. don't blame other fans for wanting to see some signs of improvement from the club before committing themselves to next year.
I believe that a change of the coaching staff would go some way to convincing some people that next year might be different to this one and to renew their ST for next year.

| If we have to rely on the Chairman to keep the club afloat, are all areas of the business running as best and efficiently as they can? Do we employ the right people on the budget we have? Are we over staffed anywhere? Do the dance classes make any money?

We haven't been a pile of drivel since mid-2006. We've had one bad half-season, and even that was peppered with some big wins and hearty displays.

'trinity have become a pile of drivel these last few years' are you sure, the reason this season has been so disappointing is the fact in the last few years there has been improvement, from the Challenge Cup semi to finishing 5th last year, until this year there had been visible improvement on the pitch,so I don't know where you get we've been pile of drivel for a few years from.

Too right, 3 or 4 years ago we'd have been more than happy finishing 4th or 5th from bottom. I'm not suggesting that we should be happy with that but with the resources we have that's still not a bad achievement.
It is partly due to the continuing improvement we have seen that we are now feeling disappointed.

Correct. Shocking year but some bloody good years leading up to it.
He is never happy and is obssessed with being a so called Trinity fan and hating them as well.
Not to mention his hidden agenda ....

| I made the same point several pages ago. This season has been a bad one in the context of the last 4 years. But over the context of 10, 15 or even 30 years this would have been a better than average season.
None of which detracts from my disappointment at what we have seen on the field at times this year but it does help to contextualise the critique of some of our more pessimistic posting peers.

before i start, dont get me wrong i agree with your post on the whole, however, thinking financially....
would it not have been better to keep brough and have some direction around the pitch and not bother signing cooke. surely this would have enabled us to have competed more... play better rugby.... win a few more matches.... and keep the attendence fuigures higher, therefore earning the same amount of money as we gained from the sale.
on top of this you then have a chance of recruiting better players as you finished higher in the league.... also take into account the league position final standings money (i have no idea what this is.... but surely pro rata basis) which would help counteract the money gained from selling brough. and probably sell more season tickets for next year too....
i feel that if we sat down with brough and said to him 'look, you can leave at the end of the season, just play out this year and play for a better contract at a better club' then i feel we would have still won more games. think how well jeffries played alongside brough. even if brough played crap.... his goalkicking would still have been top quality as usual.
personaly, i think financially they would probably have equate to the same, i just feel it would have been a better season with brough which gives future benefits.

| Do you know, I think I can see the little green shoots of positivity on this thread. Take it steady everybody, but by the time next season starts I can see us getting ready for being, dare I say it......hopeful.

| Totally agree with the theme of the original post and to those who say getting rid of Ted and Diane wont improve matters, would it hurt to bring in new blood / new ideas - what do they add other than the stigma of having a chairman who has entered into insolvency (if you can't run your own finances should you be running a club?).
If the are contributing financially how - when Ted is insolvent???
I might be totally wrong as i don't have a detailed understanding of the clubs finances nor Teds (who does?) but based on the limited amount in the public domain, for me the first change needed is at that very top and from there on.
Re Diane - nice lady, a supporter - but CE ,not based on what ive seen???
I'm a glass half full supporter but we do need some change here to bring about some positive momentum, as noted before if Feline is struggling then god help us!

This may all be very true but there doesn't seem to be anybody wanting to take these roles or to take the club on. Should I win the euro millions I'll buy the club but until then somebody else will have to do it.

| With regard to our management, the problem isn't with the people putting the money in, it is the people running the club. Doesn't have to be the same thing (although of course it often is in a smaller business).
As an example, but not the only one, I have no doubt our CE would not get a similar role in a retail business of similar size.
I we want one who can run a business of this size, we need to pay those kind of big bucks.
In my opinion, in spite of all the discussion over new players, I'd rather spend money on someone who has experience of running a successful sporting club or at least a trouble shooter who can put it right, than another prop.
That's not to say all those involved in the club are poor, not by a long shot...... but while ever we are employing family members and keen fans rather than professionals who know what they are doing, we will always be the small town club and we will always be, as the title of the thread says "sick of the cheap option".

| Ted Richardson has contributed financially to club for years, he doesn’t believe in it. However, he is perfectly happy for his family to make a good living out of it.

I don't disagree with you. I did say that with hindsight it turned out to be the wrong decision. The gloom at Belle Vue has been to do with performances, and I suspect that it wasn't appreciated at the time how bad performances were going to get. We had Jeffries and Obst, we had shown that we could perform without the heavy-browed one, and so I could understand why the financial considerations took priority at the time. The fact that the financial side suffered in the end was just the way it turned out. Like with refs, people are entitled to make mistakes, provided that the decision made initially was understandable.
Had the players put in more consistently decent performances, maybe the Brough thing would be no big deal. It is debatable whether Brough being here would have stopped teams putting 50+ on us. That happened easily enough with Brough in the side against Huddersfield. Maybe the season would have turned out the same way, if you think of that as part of the slide.
