| Thought Cooke has a poor game, but wasn't the worst player on the pitch for us. Several times the distribution was so slow that by the time the ball got to him he had no space. Coupled with no dummy runners and lack of support play I'm not surprised he didn't create much. It's interesting that we get a whole thread slagging him off but no one else is singled out? Last time I looked at the MOM polls someone does on here he was right up with Murphy and Morrison, so some have clearly changed their tune. Can't help thinking he is an easy scapegoat, when the TEAM play badly it must be Cooke's fault.
Before, I get any snidey posts about being related to him, let me say I don't think he is of sufficient qualty for SL, however I could probably say the same about half a dozen of our players.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that once he goes into the pack all will be cured - he has work to do and improvement is required, clearly. Thing is, he cannot be reasonably judged on his form to date in the halfs - let him have a run in the pack and then make the call. Till such time plenty on here need to keep their powder dry and if he still performs to the same level then they can all get the Kleenex out and rejoice they where right all along.
Sometimes you get the impression some on here would rather be seen right with their original opinion than see somebody/something come good.....

| In my admittedly quite limited observations of his strengths when he was still thought of as a decent player, it was his passing that stood out. Whilst in no way wishing to be giving him an excuse for performing poorly it cant be easy for him when our attacking lines and running are so poor. Half the time when the ball finally arrived he was left with no other option but to just ship it on. If people are expecting him to magically create gaps they are deluding themselves, he is 6'4" and hardly the most mobile. As has been said above he is not a 6 in a million years and until he is played in a more suitable position, and the team actually play with any kind of structure, we will see very little from him imo

| Enough of this slim-line and even slower version of Bobbie Goulding. Mr Cooke was clearly looking forward to his old-pal's act yesterday with relish and he has no business being in a Wakefield shirt. This bloke is an even worse signing than Mr Reilly, now that is saying a lot.
So here's a message for Cooke:
CONTRACT OR NO CONTRACT, GET OUT OF OUR CLUB AND DON'T COME BACK!

Sorry, have to disagree,he did a good job for us at Hull, working well alongside Horne.
Something has gone pear shaped with him since he left us.(I am not saying that because he went to Rovers)
He seems to be on a downhill slide, putting weight on,and appearing disinterested.

Even going beyond that he was, IMO, an equivocal success at Rovers. To say he kept us up in 2007 would be a major exaggeration, but he did play an important role. Even inconsistent quality was valuable in that brave but [imostly[/i pretty workmanlike squad. 2008 he let himself and fans down with the 'unfit for selection' debacle. He clearly didn't like being second fiddle to Dobson and failed to react like the consumate pro he probably isn't. Nonetheless, he helped Rovers to fourth in the League in 2009, was occasionally excellent, often average, but rarely poor. Not a spectacular return on his wages, but far from the abject failure that some try to cast him as. Ultimately we paid him to go away, which speaks for itself.
I enjoyed his time at Rovers and personally don't regret the club signing him.

You are obviously more qualified than me mate with Cookes time at Rovers.I still think he has had a bumpy ride since leaving Hull. For what its worth I always liked him,and think it is a shame the way things are going for him.
Although a lot of Hull fans wont agree.

If only he was a 'trier' and tackled a lot he'd get credit. If he had an Aussie accent. Cooke is what he is, very hard to play behind a pack offering no room or time, regardless of whether you are Paul Cooke, Danny Brough, Geoff Bagnall, Brad Davis...

Too right he would he'd get credit for trying, too right he's bone idle and not interested.
Not in the same league as those 3, he may have been 5 years ago but at least they would have tried.

I have said many times that he is a Hull FC Legend because of 2005 but why you think it is a shame the way things are going for him I find hard to believe - People have choices Hull = Hull KR = Wakefield - if you have a chance take it dont be a lazy . He is a gonner. Barman me thinks
