Strange that because the WE is owned by Johnstone Press who own "Local" newspapers all over the UK and they support the Tory party. They also own the Yorkshire Post, which is Tory biased. I remember buying the Yorkshire Evening Post "Wakefield and Five Towns edition some years ago. The rear pages were all about Leeds United and Leeds Rhinos, for heaven's sake.

The WE hasn't been readable since it went to tabloid format, and stopped being a real newspaper, many years ago, using insipid color printing. It is (was) printed in Sheffield, and employs about 5 people in their Northgate office. Is the office still there, by the way, or have they moved out of the city altogether?

Was a nice paper when fully based on Southgate. Used to get all the young reporters in The Mitre at lunch time. Was it Frank Jeffries who was the Sports Correspondent back in the 70's ? A young guy called John Fieldhouse took over when FJ retired and I travelled with him to a few away games and got entry on his Press Pass. It was far more believable than when I use to use Michael Hunte's players pass.

A few years back a few of my mates came up with a scam. They printed up some ID cards calling themselves HM Inspectors of Asian Cuisine and they used that name along with Rick Shaw and another one I forget.
