Edit, once again there is no need to post in this way.

In these days of health and safety and not to mention the 'claim' society, best to be safe than sorry. Gone are the days when you turned up and the terraces still had snow on them and this provided entertainment itself. I remember going to Fev in the mid to late 80s to watch a Challenge Cup tie against Widnes when Paul Lyman was playing for Fev and John Gilbert was playing for Widnes. The pitch was covered in snow and only the lines had been cleared and marked out in purple! Only thing that was missing was an orange ball. The good old days! eusa_boohoo.gif

I'm pleased the game is called off.

not sure many are taking into consideration the state of the pitch due to minus temperatures last night.

I've been watch some icicles on my neighbours guttering seeing if there's are sign of a thaw when the sun came out and its very little so what's the likelihood that the pitch is also struggling to thaw

do we really what to put players under extreme pressures to play on crap conditions I don't for one

correct decision made for me

The fact is that the club did everything possible to try and get the game on and they, along with the volunteers, should be applauded for their efforts.
However, the postponement may help Wakefield when the game is played, as a certain Tim Smith should be fit, however, who knows what will happen, so our wealthy neighbours should stop bleating and looking for conspiracy theories.
Parking alone, would be an absolute nightmare as most of us park on the side-streets around the ground and some of these are in a poor state, due to the snow and ice.

Surprised by the decision as the sun is shining and there's quite a thaw underway.

Fair enough.

It's more of a headache for Leeds. Now they have 2 extra fixtures to fit in.

a026.gif Bit of daft post. it does help out with more rest for key players to shake off injuries though which is good for Wakefield. k020.gif

There were 30+ volunteers working hard from around 10am yesterday to get the game on. There have also been people down the ground this morning from 8am trying to get the game on. We dont have undersoil heating like rhino's but the pitch is clear. The issue is not with wakefields attempts inside the ground but the fact that it dropped in temperature overnight freezing thawing surfaces and creating ice. The areas around the ground were cleared but the club cannot dictate the weather conditions and to ensure safe conditions for supporters the game was called off by the match comissioner NOT WAKEFIELD !!!

Big thanks to all of you that gave your time to try and help the club get the game on see you all on friday down at cas
