| Actually the "Home" of the challenge cup is Headiingley
And was only first contested at wembley in 1929 some 24 years after the first final
Plus It think you'll find that since 1929 the CC final has been played at 11 different venues Hardley the "Home" of Rugby League
Wembley is the home of English Football not rugby

So that makes the Kennington Oval the home of the FA Cup Final, seeing as the first final was played there and not played at Wembley until nearly 50 years after that first one...(of course, when the FA Cup and Challenge Cups were first played for, Wembley was a long way from being planned and built.)

Since 1945 the only break in wembley hosting the final was due to the stadium being rebuilt, over 65 years to me certainly warrants being the home of the challenge cup if not RL, then I suppose it's also whatever suits your argument.

| Wembley was titled as the 'National Stadium for Football and Rugby League' (or words to that effect.
It is part ours and our heritage does indeed belong there - and so should.
It is only since the SL started that the cup final, at Wembley, was seen as the pinnacle of our sport.
I cannot believe anyone would not see that it would be right to be commemorated by a venture such as this and my only gripe is the mess the RL are making of the selection process.
Don Fox for me - bitter-sweet memories and THE iconic Wembley moment for RL!

I take your point and will re-iterate my belief that Wembley is not the home of RL in this country and will concede to agree that it can be seen as the home of the CC, however to have 1 competition game of RL played a year (admittedly there were a couple of internationals played there last year) hardly makes it HOME
BTW there have been as many RU games played at the "New" Wembley since re-opening than there has been RL, so should there be a statue of JPR Williams there as well
As I said in my previous post, I do not see the relevance of a RL tribute statue there

I may not have the relevant press details, and I'm not kidding myself that Wambley was built for us, but it most definetely WAS built for Football and RL and was clearly used at the time to justify the expense.
I say we claim what we can of it. Wembley is still special to the game, although soemthing has been lost in the magic of it.

Why would the FA build a stadium to house RL (for the record the new stadium was built in conjunction with the FA in order to launch a bid for the 2018 world cup finals)
You are way off track, as I said there has been as many RU games in the new Wembley as there has been RL games, which pales in to insignificance the amount of Football games played there and is also on a par with the amount American football games, Wembley (the new one) has very little, if not no affiliation with RL and to want an RL great epitomised there is at best hypocritical and at worst totally inappropriate

Twist it how you like - we are entitled to use the stadium and entitled to the heritage that goes with it. Rather that than a cruddy old stadium in Leeds of which one stand is just shy of being condemned.
Wembley is part and parcel of the history of RL and should be recognised as such.

| Shouldn't the statue be outside Odsal, what with it's recently procaimed status as an 'iconic' rugby league ground?
Sounds like the RFL are engaging in the type of consultation flim-flam normally reserved for local authorities; keep consulting until you get the result you want.
