What businesses in their right mind would refuse a stadium - which would bring between 5,000 and 15,000 - 13 weekends a year - on their doorstep?
Fast food outlets such as KFC, McDonalds and Nandos will benefit hugely along with Winterseam pub in Xscape. Also, the shopping outlet will find an upsurge of customers as a result.
If they had a problem with it, they'd have objected in the Outline PP application. As it was, nobody objected except a few people from Wakefield and Leeds.

Yeah, it's not true considering all the businesses around there want the stadium there, and some were built on the basis a stadium was being built (the 2 pubs).

| It's all well and good having planning permission for a stadium but who the hell is paying for it and where is the money coming from?
Neither club is better off than the other in my opinion.

| The 20 acres for the stadium is worth nothing until they manage to gain control of the few square yards you need for the access roads - any news on the CPO, or for that matter any news on the removal of the building restrictions at WR?

Do you know where exactly your money is coming from? All we know is that it is Warehousing but I presume that businesses will be paying for that space to fund the rest and make it viable? Empty warehousing would be costly and pointless, no? So which companies are on board in Newmarket as of this moment in time?
Who knows who the main stakeholders in Cas are. The fact of the matter is that we have enough money to do some building whether it is all of it or not.

I know but that's my point. People keep going on about funding but no one on your side knows who your funding is coming from other than that it's "grants" and from the development itself.
Therefore, just to say Cas haven't been bleating about it doesn't mean they don't have any money to fund their stadium.
The proof will be in the pudding come Spring 2012.

Aye, although one or both of us will probably be in the lower leagues. Either way, frustrating nevertheless.

| I don't think either set of fans is more reliably informed about the prospects for their own stadium than they were this time last week....we just know we won't be sharing one (well not at GH anyway, personally wouldn't totally rule out Cas moving to NM if our SL lives depended on it but can't see Wakey's project being as well advanced as ours by franchise deadline - that's not to say it won't be completed before ours)

| Nothing will ever be built at Newmarket, it is all a total pipedream
and wakey are just trying to keep their pitiful amount of fans
happy and moderately interested. Their new permanent home
will definitely be Oakwell, but they just dare not tell the loyal
1000 or so actual fans that pay every week... Oh no, they
will probably drag them through 2 or 3 years of spin.....whilst
trying to get the fans to bother going to Barnsley and then
when they feel the time is right they will tell them the truth!!

Yep, you could watch it all happening before your very eyes on the Webcam they set up.
I think I saw a seagull once...

Wow! thanks for telling us that. That's it, the final straw, I'm going to support cas from now on. At least you can bellieve what Dicky Wright tells you and the fans are so much more sophisticated and intelligent. I think I'll look good in orange.
