Quote: bellycouldtackle "I think its going to be a very competitive season both at the top and the bottom. Although strong favourites I don't think Saints and Catalans will have it all their own way in the league as Powell will get Warrington firing, Wigan can not have such a nightmare with injuries again, if the new Leeds halfbacks turn it on , if a massive Hull team can be consistent, if Cas respond to their new coach, if the Hudds players respect Watson and don't spit their dummies out again. Those eight teams will be the bookies favourites for top 8 finishes.
Will Hull KR be able to replicate their form from last season, will Trinity continue their end of season Willie Poaching performances, will Salford's new signings gel, will enthusiasm, determination and no little skill enable Toulouse to surprise a few. I think that the bookies will have KR, Salford, Trinity and Toulouse as the bottom four. No surprise with that and looking at squads on paper there is no real argument..... but there is always a side that underperforms last season the much fancied Huddersfield and there is always a side that surprises, last season it was Hull KR.
I like what Willie is doing, new fitness people, new assistants, freshen things up for the players, atmosphere in the club seems great. If we are as fit as we can be, determined, lucky with injuries then maybe its us that will surprise a few.'"

Nice to see you posting properly icon_lol.gif

I agree with all of that but you and I know that luck with injuries is critical for us if we are to do well this season.

Whatever people think about CC, when he started he was a lucky coach, then from 2019 he wasn't and it ended his Trinity career, Sure he could have done better, especially his signings and some of his team selections but basically he struggled with injuries to key players and could never gain consistency,

I actually think WP is a stronger character than CC and would cope better with adversity but what's just my opinion, he will still need luck, all great coaches are lucky to a degree.

Like most teams, our first 19 are very good, in fact in our case if they are injury-free and in good form our first 19 is one of the best outside the 'big' sides.

I don't believe in karma so no guarantees but a bit of luck for Trinity may be due, fingers crossed.

According to an MC statement 6 out of a squad of 33 have refused the vaccine. However the source might not be correct as it’s from a source that doesn’t have a good reputation and considered to be click bait by a lot.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-to-e ... vaccinated

If I'm reading that right, anyone unvaccinated will need to isolate for 10 days upon arrival in the UK, however you can pay for private PCR test to release after 5 days. I can't see either Fench team coming 6 days before the game every other week, so they could be in the same position coming here as we are going there. The more players vaccinated the stronger sides will be.

It seems that Covid is a determined foe

this is a mightily complicated situation, in the long term a personal decision to vaccinate or not, might put your team mates careers and or livelihoods at stake come season end! Or mean the difference between watching a top flight team or a second division team in future years for your fans!

Health, welfare, protection of the vulnerable, freedom of movement, us over me... personal choice, personal freedoms, religious convictions, me over us.

Very complicated.

I’m double vaccinated and will booster as soon as it’s my turn, my decision based on the vulnerability of my wife who is still in recovery from neuro surgery... no brainer, no second thought!

But I do understand that others might have different influences, different priorities!

Very complicated!

I want trinity to win every game and my day to day peace of mind and enjoyment of life is affected by this... how do I feel about players deliberately excluding themselves from doing their jobs (whatever the justification) ... I don’t know

It’s very complicated

Very complicated indeed!

This makes for interesting reading - https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/ru ... n-22819368

They reckon up to 5 players could leave Toulouse because they don't want the vaccine.

Quote: BOJ042 "I just went through all the squads posted on super league site (yes vasty i have internet here in Sydney ) and unless something goes horribly wrong it has to be Toulouse for relegation closely followed by Salford.

How tough do you think Toulouse will be at home ,thought that might be a factor for them but they have not got a super league squad .

Obviously though like very year injuries will pay a part - for us i think we have a very vey tough draw to start with and could be looking up rather thank down quickly if we cant sneak a few wins early ,'"

Not a chance, a few injuries and they are done. Don’t get the Salford love In at all, your looking at reputations, very old reputations in some cases.

We will see.

Can I ask, why do you bother following Trinity it must torment you, you predict relegation every year regardless, where is the joy?

To be honest I’m quite pleased to see somewhat more low key thoughts on the season than last year.

There seemed to be a lot of talk of playoffs this time last year and I think that added to the disappointment of the season when it was clear those expectations were not going to be met.

I get your point though I can’t remember many people predicting play off last year, you must know some real optimists..

My point is that as a fan of all but a few clubs you don’t start the season expecting to win anything, I accept that.

But equally why would you automatically assume the worst? Yes we’ve struggled the last few years but any fair minded person would accept that we’ve had some real bad luck, most notably with injuries.

FWIW I think the fairest prediction imo is that with a bit of luck we have the potential to be one of the more competitive teams outside the top four.
