I feel the same way about all of our players, seems so simple.icon_smile.gif

Quote: vastman "Of all our forwards he's the one I'd be least worried about losing. He's ok but nothing special, makes a fair few errors and always reminds me of Korkidas - runs the ball in like a train but ends up 5 meters further back than where we started. I do see the value of a better the player you know but I can't say I'd be bothered.'"

Think that's a little unfair on Simon who has been a good signing overall despite being consistently played out of position in the front row where he is too light weight for his direct 'train like' approach and would be more effective for Trinity in the back row...I hope we keep him.

Of all the forwards I'd be least worried about losing Anthony Tupou but that probably won't happen.... icon_wink.gif

Teams starting to announce squad numbers wonder when Trinity will do likewise?

Squad numbers don't usually get announced until a few weeks before the season.

No it's not unfair it's accurate - I'm not saying he's not good he's just not as important imho to other forwards.

As for A Tupou I really don't know what to make of it. A number of people who are generally sensible like Prince Buster say he's shot but I don't know whether that's guess work or fact. He wasn't worth it last season but if he can regain his fitness he's a real asset - who knows what the real state of play is but I would not assume what's posted on here is right. Until it's official I'll have to assume a fit Tupou will be available.

Simon is 3rd highest in squad last season with 275 carries and over 1719 metres gained which is in top 10 for the squad.....did a decent job along with Arona who are good back up props but really second rowers out of position. Made 15 errors in entire season which is fewer than Arona with higher average gain than him.

Joking aside he is an asset and has delivered more in his time that most including Anthony Walker, Annakin, Molloy and Kirmond so to say least worried to lose him is inaccurate IMHO as the stats don't back this up.

I like him, however if we can use his wage and any transfer fee to improve what we have up front, I'm in favour.

Exactly so getting rid makes no sense unless there is better to replace him. Need all of the squad to contribute next season and not sure that the ones I mentioned in earlier post did although appreciate injuries dictated this to an extent.

There'd be quite a few I'd let go before Simon.
I like him and he gives us good go forward.
I like it when he plays 13 for a while in the game too.

With regard to Simon I have never rated him and I note the comments about his propensity to run straight at opponents and never to try anything creative. I understand that if the deal goes ahead there will be a transfer fee. The comment about Williame is perfectly valid ,but the strong rumours continue to be aired. Please note I am referring to the French site not the one in English.

Simon tries to offload on most drives so I don't get where you say he never tries anything creative, that's just a false statement. Just to be clear; enlighten me how a player that's used as a prop can be anymore creative than driving the ball in hard and trying to offload ?

In your opinion whilst somwhat stating the obvious. Truth is you simply don't know the coaches plans so why second guess him, I know it's part of the close season for fans but you state with such authority when surely it makes total sense to the only person that matters - the coach. All this assuming it's even true.

I would say if the Simon transfer rumours are right, it's plain economics.
It's the start of November not the start of January, plenty of time to find a replacement, who knows JK may have already someone earmarked?
Simon signed a 1 year extension that runs out at the end of the upcoming season, if we were not to 'cash in' on him now he would leave for nothing at the end of his contract.
Good player but he is replaceable and has been mentioned, his contract plus a bit of coin go elsewhere, no brainer!
