| Quote: wrencat1873 "Just on a point of order.
I'm not against ANY site for a new stadium for either Trinity or for community use, none at all.
However, along with many others I've spent time on the town hall steps and outside county hall protesting and supporting the cause and I will gladly do more of the same in future.
However, after the utter bull that has been fed to the club and its fans since Newmarket was passed, one should be forgiven for daring to question the viability of anything and everything.
A stadium on Balne Lane is in walking distance for me so I'm all for it but, having lived on that side of town for over 30 years, this just looks a non runner and given the debacle at Newmarket and the false promises around the development at BV (and elsewhere), what should anyone think.
Regardless of what our new friend says about proximity to the centre of Town and Bus routes, trains etc, access to that site for traffic would be a bloody nightmare.
You would have to come up/down Balne Lane, cut through Plumpton or come along Batley Road, all of which are difficult to get through in terms of time and existing traffic, not to mention all the new housing etc further down Batley Road, back towards the motorway and "he" is yet to explain just how access could be created.
We're not talking about a small semi pro club, this is for the future of Wakefield Trinity and the thought of 6-8000 supporters getting to and from there on match days is mind boggling.
As I say, I'm just a frustrated fan, hacked of with being lied to by those in charge of the local authority and the new poster does seem to be coming at us from a new angle.
I hope he's right and I'm wrong and humble pie is one of my favourite foods.
Time will be our judge but, time isn't our friend, especially with new structures for SL being a pretty hot topic.'"
It’s walking distance for me too leisurely stroll through Wrenny Park.

| Balne Lane could be an option if time and funding wasn't against Trinity. They are so therefore it really isn't a viable option.
As much as you seem to want to deny it, access is a massive issue and likely to scupper any chance of a successful planning application. Can you imagine circa 2/3000 people all making their way underneath the railway and and back into town? Belle Vue has a number of ways people can exit yet it still gets snarled up.
Notwithstanding the above, the most damning indictment of the whole scheme is the fact Rodney Walker is involved. That should be all you need to know that this scheme is a red herring thrown into the mix to delay matters.

| I truly like the discussion & opinions, they are correct, imo, the land has a covenant on - use for sporting activities.
The council is aware & yes smoke screen & mirrors.
Regarding access, cliff hill - balne lane has a narrow single pass bridge on a rising hill & bad bend.
The view in the air does not show the three distinct levels to the three fields, where the stadium is located is the
Largest area mid level. How visiting coaches would get through & park is mind boggling. Cut & fill in the land would
Not happen. Rain & land water moves on mass to the lowest level - the beck, which does go on flood alert.
Holdsworth mill use to have a dam adjacent for obvious reasons.
A full capacity stadium attendance would be chaos, fire issues & access a sick jokes imo.
We do have fun when the council practice to deceive, maybe they want a fiasco ?
You couldn't write a better storey.
However, I do hope Carter is aware -- Up the TRIN.

Oh give over jinjer I thought you were better than that. Frankly I’ve lost interest in the whole thing and I don’t think it has any creedence at all.
However as far as i can see it’s the other posters with the attitude especially wren and shifty who I thought to be pretty decent. I think I know who Fisherman’s cap is and all he seemed to be doing was stating what is obvious - it is viable but unlikely.
If it is him then he’s not connected as such but he knows the industry, he was the one who told me that the plan for BV wouldn’t hold more than 6000 and he was right. Still if we don’t want advice or help then so be it I’m sure after that hostile response he won’t bother. I’ll PM him and find out.
Me I’m grateful for your kind words about me, many thanks.
Oh and I don’t own the rights to google maps either.

| what concerns me is the precedent has already been set by the Council allowing the Newcold development outside the agreement, there is a legal argument that it should not have gone up but if this second one goes up outside the agreement then although a legal challenge may be brought via a JR its not plain sailing I fear, The developer has nothing to lose! If they did they would have to deliver what they promised with some legal costs on top. What about the guy at the Daily Star he may champion this latest attempt to circumvent the agreement by York Court.

The trusts objection sets out the fact they believe the council may have acted outside of their power first time around and if they allow the latest one a judicial review will be sought.

Good move, last thing Box wants is an investigation into this whole shady saga. The only time we seem to get a response from him is when he feels threatened. Will it help get a stadium? Probably not, but if it could oust the snake somehow then there is the silver lining.

I know that I have read the text but a precedent may have been set on the eyes of a court where there is no redress I am just putting potential concerns from my knowledge of Courts albeit this area is not an area I have operated in.

Disappointing Vasty, especially when I've been one of the few posters here over the years and on the VT that have backed you up on some of your let's say you're more confrontational posts, when other people play the poster and not the post and tbf you've done the same for me when the likes of the Leeds Mafia are trying to talk crap about Trinity. Obviously, I may have misjudged you.
