| Quote: Kettykat "Criticism lays squarely at the coach for not preparing them correctly and the players for their lacklustre amateur performances . They certainly aren’t the biggest or most skilful squad in the league but are playing much lower than our potential , even if it’s just the passion in our game , it’s nowhere near where it should be at this stage in the season. The majority look like it’s a training or friendly game , not life and death of them or the club or both .'"
He picked the coach without any obvious selection process and he provided the budget. We are basically rubbish therefore if either really cared about the club, the coach would resign or if not the CEO would sack him. I doubt either will happen, we will just go through the same excuses and with the first win just around the corner.

Disregard coach and budget for a moment , these are professional players and as such should have a decent skill level , ( which is absent for most of the games I’ve seen ) and play with passion and pride for the club , that doesn’t take coaching or money . Two big things which are sadly lacking at our club in this current team .

I don't see that at all. There is lots of effort going on, just not the execution.

Firstly, it's a board decision not a Carter decision
And as you know as its been discussed publicly, they made their decision as they didn't have any applicants that weren't discussed as part of the process to choose Willie, so went with the best (in their view) from what they had. It wasn't that they didn't do a selection process.

| He is the board and it was less than 24 hours between WP leaving and the appointment of our new coach so not much time for anyone to apply.

Or alternatively, no he isn't the only one.
And it was 24 hours from you knowing about it.
Hope that helps.
Who was it that you wanted them to appoint?

Based on current results anyone I guess but at least see who is out there unless their decision was based on something other than ability.

| That's not what you said. Who did you want before they gave it to Mash?

| I wasn't keen when they announced they gave it to Mash and said so on here.
However, listening to him he's made me think he's better than I thought and I'm happy to see if the decision works out.
It's no good constantly changing decisions. Especially based on fan feedback when they don't know any of the details behind it.
For me you stick with your decision and add support to it rather than changing and going back to square one

| They knew they were not retaining WP so had every opportunity to see if anyone wanted the position. We did not even try we just appointed because I believe and it is only my opinion they thought him to be more malleable than an experienced coach.
I suppose that regardless of what the “boards “ decisions were and the reasons one of them will leave at the end of the season, I fear what he will leave behind playing wise.
I suppose if we are relegated we won’t need quite so many press or director’s seats in the new stand.

Malleable to what exactly?

| Lot's of talk about the coach and whether he should go or not.
One of the sky pundits (McDermot?) said Wayne Bennett would struggle to coach our players. He's right and not being disrespectful. The player quality is simply not there-doesn't mean they're not trying, but you cannot coach what isn't in there.
If you get rid of Mash (and at what cost?) who's the available proven coach we know would get us out of this mess? (and at what cost?)
IF I knew with certainty that a certain coach was out there who could do that, then I'd go for it, even if it meant borrowing the money to do it! BUT it would be a huge gamble, certainly not worth the risk IMO, and I really doubt any coach would get our players to respond!
I'm a realist and can't see a way out of this-hope I'm wrong-but for me the inevitable will happen this year.
I'm a bit sick of one sided SL anyway the only thing I'll miss about it is the bigger crowd we get in SL compared to what we'll get in the championship, when I suppose 50% of our 'loyal' supporters will disappear!

If we do get relegated and start to win we may get new supporters
