No one team has a right to anything in this game , let’s hope trinity go out and spoil the party for saints .

We’ll give it a dig, i have no doubts about that. But to get anywhere close we need Saints to be well off their game and i can’t see that being the case. They want to right the wrongs of last year and i fear we will be very much in the firing line.

Quote: Slugger McBatt "You say that, but how many finals have Saints been to under Holbrook? The answer, of course, is none.

How many finals should Saints have been to under Holbrook? Well, both last year were nailed on, on paper.'"

Holbrook won’t be playing though will he! And you’re right; Holbrook’s Saints have history of choking (just like Cas) so use that as a positive!
For me attitude & mentality are massive, particularly in one off games. This goes as much for fans as it does players. We could easily write something positive or negative for either side, but I choose to focus on positives as I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone get anything or anywhere by being negative.

Quote: steadygetyerboots-on "Saints are a very good side, but don’t be fooled by the performance against Cas last week. We (Cas) deploy the same tactics against them every time & literally couldn’t make it any easier for them to beat us.
Will it be tough? Yes. Are you the underdogs? Yes. Can you beat them though? Yes. The reward is huge; if you beat Saints then there’s no one left to fear in the draw. This is where you have the advantage in my opinion. Wakey can play the game of their lives, because it quite literally could be for some players. For Saints, this is another routine game on their way to another final.'"

You know for any other club those words would ring true but we don’t ever play like that in the CCup. Give us a play off game and we are mustard but the CCup seems to stir no emotion in our players.

As I said before I’ve never seen us play truly well in the CCup though I only go back to 2004. Yet in that time I’ve seen three exceptional play off games against Hull which we won and Wigan and Saints which we should have won. All far more difficult games than any of the CCup games with the exception of Warrington.

You work it out steady, I can’t, especially considering the clubs heritage in the CCup icon_confused.gif

I think if we don’t concede heavily in the first 25 minutes we might make a game of it, can’t see a win but a good show maybe. Alternatively it could be a turkey shoot.

Squad announced:

Matty Ashurst
James Batchelor
Danny Brough
Mason Caton-Brown
Jack Croft
Jordan Crowther
Anthony England
Ryan Hampshire
Keegan Hirst
Ben Jones-Bishop
Lee Kershaw
George King
Danny Kirmond
Craig Kopczak
Reece Lyne
Jacob Miller
Tyler Randell
Kelepi Tanginoa
Kyle Wood

As expected, no Fifita or Jowitt but, Brough is back and MCB in the squad.
Looks like Hampshire to FB and Miller & Brough in the halves.
Lets hope that MCB plays but above all, we need our forwards to massively step up to the plate.
Fifitas shoes are too big for anyone to fill on their own and it's important that the whole 17 fill the hole, especially going forward.

Despite the probability of a Trinity defeat, cant wait for this one.
Victory would be unbelievable and would give us a shot at getting to Wembley.

The dream is still alive (just)

Come on Trin !

This is exactly what I think, ride out the first 20-25 mins and restrict Saints we can make a game of it.

I've got a feeling its either going to be a cricket score or a narrow Wakefield win... hoping for the latter

Despite the doom and gloom around Daves injury and missing our deadly left edge we have still named a squad that I think has plenty of quality about it!

Hampshire

Kershaw
MCB
Lyne
BJB

Miller
Brough

England
Randell
Hirst
Ashurst
Batchelor/Kirmond
Crowther

Wood
Kopczak
King
Tanginoa

I know Saints have three big players back in Thompson, Percival and LMS but we’ve seen ourselves in recent weeks that big players aren’t guaranteed to come straight back in after injury and play to their very best...Fages is a miss for them as he’s been playing really well...I know Richardson has killed us a few times in the past but he was full of confidence then and playing well...he’s not been this year and he is definitely a player we can target defensively...

We need to get right in their faces from minute one and all 17 need to have the game if their lives...it’s a one off game...I’ve gone from thinking we’ve absolutely no chance whatsoever to looking at the 17 we put out and thinking you never know...if MCB and Kershaw can rise to it we’ve a squeak...that’s where I think we could be in real danger!

We need to start with Kopczak IMO, we cant afford to let them steam roll us from the off, the first 15/20 minutes will be vital and I think outside of Fifita Kops gives us the most go forward.

If I remember rightly, In Fifita`s first game he looked very ordinary and his second game against Hudds in the Challenge Cup QF he had an absolute stormer - Hoping history repeats itself and Tanginoa can give us some real punch.

Can not understand people wanting Crowther in the starting 13 every time he as started we seem to come of second best in the forward battle .Know he will get better but think it's a bit soon for a starting line up Know we were under the cosh first 20 mins last week but our defence held out on the line think a lot of it was down to bigger guys . Kermo wood start for me at present though he went well last week

I'd play Crowther because he's had a week off and will be fresh...he'll be hungry to prove he shouldn't have been dropped...he will bring the energy we need...young homegrown lads can often be the ones who lift the rest of the team...like Kershaw did on his debut against Leeds...the energy and enthusiasm they should bring could be vital...

I'd also keep Kopczak on the bench because nearly all season I think him and George King off the bench has worked really well....England is solid and Keegan Hirst should be challenged to have the game of his life against old Batley mate Alex Walmsley...he's a similar size.....Walmsley is obviously on a completely different level but I've a feeling he'll have a bit of respect for Hirst.

First thing to do is try and stop them having a blistering start (although Salford were 16-0 down early and should have won there)....if we can do that I'd like us to throw the ball around a bit, and Chester hinted at that in his interview yesterday.....I reckon a front row of England, Randell and Hirst is a bit more on the defensive side...that then leaves us with more of an impact bench with the likes of Wood, Kopczak, Tanginoa, King Maybe?

I haven't got a problem with Crowther starting. Thought he was very unlucky not to be in the team last week at Magic weekend.

I think that team does have the quality but does it have the desire because that’s what counts in these games.
