The answer to this one is simple.
Over the years, whenever we've had real talent, it's only been a matter of time before they have been "taken" by one of the bigger clubs, (even Huddersfield took Brough ) and whilst MC and his team have done a bloody marvellous job, in both putting together and keeping the best squad that we've had in a generation, Trinity have always found a way to drop off a cliff when things have been going well.
On this basis, you can and should excuse the "worry" at the first sign of something bad being around the corner, even if its only a mickey poor rumour.

In regard of Saints fans not being worried about their own players, they are in the luxury position of being able to replace their "lost" players at the drop of a hat.
Although they haven't quite replaced the "magic" of Barba, their team as a whole is plenty good enough to fill the hole and at this stage, i'm not sure that Trinity are.

Finally, the mention of Leeds taking players is red rag to a bull as, historically, they have been the ones to plunder their local rivals during lean times, that's why all Trinity fans love them so much

There was never any doubt about that!

He gave away 17 last season, so that's an average of less than one per match. Somewhat less than the Airedale Aussie would suggest.

I'm a huge DF fan but I think the club have got this one right. It is a long season and I would love DF to stay if he continues to show the form he did last season, but we shouldn't resign him on the basis of last season but rather this season's form.
I'm sure he will produce the goods and, hopefully he will want to stay with us!

Big fish in a little pond springs to mind with big dave ,and would his affable nature go down that well at the bigger clubs or his layed back demeanour.
Remember sinfield some years ago saying Leeds don’t push the boat out on players wages and he could have gone to other clubs for more but they used the lure of cups and medals to snare players .
Personally think big dave is always going to move on sooner or later it’s the nature of the game ,so let’s savour the time we have with him and be thankful that he chose to play part of his career in the famous red/white and blue shirt.
Didn’t know much about him before he signed but has certainly left a big impression on me ,and really happy in the knowledge that the club can attract players of his caliber, that only a few years ago wouldn’t give us a second glance .
