Well unlike some I was at the match today and saw a great first half of rugby between two closely matched teams.
We thought if the second half is half as good as the first then it'd be great value but it wasn't and that's not because Wakey lost as I had St.Helens winning by 20 before the match. There was the odd incident though that I thought the ref had missed when Riley was smashed around the head in the tackle by a St. Helens player think it was their '12'? To carry on playing for a further 3/4 mins was outrageous when it's a head injury.

noticed it didn't happen with the St.Helens full back!
But the second half of rugby was completely ruined by an absolute inept performance by the referee who surely must be reviewed for being incompetent at this level? His style of refereeing the game was completely different second half.
Two of the 4/5 penalties given against WTW were extremely harsh at the play the ball 1. Anderson when Soliola dropped the ball as he stood up 2. Dan smith underneath a 4 man tackle of Masoe..Masoe laughed when he got the penalty.
This was exacerbated by the fact that Godinet got smashed by a St.Helens player off the ball and not picked up.
Then that punch by Amor on Ryan's chin in front of the sticks and bang in front of the referee to not have the backbone/bottle to send Amor off?

I knew he would go for on report as it's the soft option....that was truly ridiculous. Wakey would have benefited rather than the future opposition against St.Helens when Amor gets a 2 game ban. It would have made the last 6/7 mins of the match a little more interesting also..
A blatant haymaker punch to the head of an opposition player should be a straight red card and nothing else...it's as simple as that....but not if you've been spoken to at half time by your boss in the changing rooms who happens to be a St.Helens fan eh? Nothing worse than that foul whiff of corruption in sport...
