| I'm reluctant to see this as good news; obviously it's in the interest of YCP to renew the planning permission - but that doesn't mean their intentions or plans have changed in terms of diddling the district out of the stadium they had to agree to in order to obtain planning gain. The interesting thing will be if Mr Box makes good on his public promise to force them into a s106 agreement that WMDC can enforce - and that I guess is the clever part of the Trust statement. As it stands however, we are no further forward, and I can't imagine that Mackie is any more willing to spunk 12 million quid on a stadium than he was before - I expect him to be as slippery with the new situation as he has been up to now.

| We will know where we are when the council makes a statement, always assuming they make one. They will probably say nowt and let it drag on and on and on.

| Wasn't there something in the budget about councils being able to take over unused land with planning permission to stop 'land banking'? I do wonder if Yorkcourt were just biding their time waiting for Trinity to fold, and when it became clear that wasn't going to happen seeking help from (ahem) other parties to try and divert attention from their obligations re. Newmarket. As others have said, it is a prime location and you cant imagine it NOT being built out if the will was there.
Just imagine if the council had felt compelled to take the land back!

I just posted something similar on the other thread.
I don't profess to understand it all so may be wrong on this but:
WMDC have it within their ability to insist upon a new s106 agreement in order to grant this permission.
They could insist that that s106 is the "perfect agreement" like Cas' and that the stadium build has to come first.
They COULD, but will they???? What it does I guess is put Box in the limelight given his recent statements at the televised council meeting. He can't carry on blaming the Tories for our imperfect agreement if he fails to deliver a new agreement when they are perfectly able to do so.

I guess that is precisely the point of the Trust statement; he threw his hands up and blamed it on Eric Pickles and a crappy Tory deal - and used the Cas example to illustrate how it would have looked if he'd dealt with it - now that statement is on the record, he can't deny it, so one would hope he'll be forced to deliver.
The next step will be what, if anything, YC do; they've shown their colours in terms of enthusiastically reneging on their legal obligations - so I wouldn't be surprised to see more chicanery.
Meanwhile, what's happened to Rodders - there is a deafening silence from him and his 'new' Trust...?

| Slightly off topic, but everyone keeps alluding to castleford having a perfect agreement.....
If anyone would like to point out our new stadium then please direct me.....
When the plans first got announced we were told we'd be in by 2018 season.
We're about 9 updates and 0 bricks on from that.

It was Cllr Box who described the Cas development as the "perfect deal". I think that you have got a pretty good deal from it, but have been hit very hard with companies not really wanting to take up the site, probably because the more ulcerative site in Case is a mere stones throw away from the proposed development

The application closes in March, I'd guess it will need to be done before then. I'm not sure if we'd fall back on the original UU S106 I'd a new S106 cannot be agreed

If you care to look through the council video meetings on the web Cllr Box stated himself that Cas had the perfect agreement for their ground!

Have both, it seems that contracts aren't worth the paper they're written on when it comes to stadiums in Wakefield

If they were 10 minutes long I would do.... I can't find a spare 4 hours to listen to pensioners talking politics with a small P
I have heard SC mention they want a similar perfect deal as castleford have... It'll be perfect if we ever move in.
Everyone is saying it's moving forward because e the highways are going to be built. But the highways were built at Newmarket a good few years ago.... And, you know the rest.
I care about my club as do you, but it's just statement after statement after statement, and the frustrating thing is all I wanna do is watch my team play rugby.
Hopefully though this is a step in the right direction for you guys. (I'm gonna copy that and just keep pasting it when relevant I think lol)

Was in the public gallery when Box made his 'perfect arrangement' statement.
