I would like to ask a question, I am not trolling nor trying to rub salt in the wound, however, does this news alter your views on a ground-share at Glasshoughton?
If the council put all the promised into one stadium and the clubs worked together there is no doubt the ground could be up by 2012.
Surely SL in Glasshoughton is better than NL at Oakwell?'"
Personally I would prefer to see the club play at Oakwell as, however remote, there would still be a chance to attract support from that area to make up for the drop in the attendances moving out of town would bring. A move to Glasshoughten would see the club lose the support with no chance of attracting new fans. All in my opinion of course.

| I still do not see this 'untapped' potential in Barnsley. It's football first, cricket second and everything else is irrelevant. Unless 'Barnsley' is in the name, why would the most parochial people on earth watch Wakefield?
I remember an article in a programme from 15-20 years ago where a club director wrote how Belle Vue needed massive improvements or a whole new ground built. We knew then, we know now. You can guess which director that was.
All in all, you can never trust the Tories. I'll stop myself going further with what I'd do to his next curry!

Me neither. Looks like 2011 will be my last season unless by some miracle we get a franchise for 2012.
I'll find something else, probably less painful, to spend my time and hard earned money on.

As I see it the problem with the ground share is the fact that the RFL blatantly want just one team in this area. Therefore who owned the shared stadium would be the decider on who survived. If we shared at Glasshoughton it would just give Cas the funding they need in order to turn their dreams into reality.
The RFL make up the rules as they go along so Crusaders and others aren't included in any franchise decision. It's a straight fight between us and Cas and even if we did have stadiums it would still be the same.

The RFL will not allow 2 SL clubs to play out of one stadium so Glasshoughton is a non starter.
Looks like the end of the road for us but best of luck to Castleford in securing the funding for Glasshoughton or there will be no SL in Wakefield, which I think is what the RFL wants.

Right I've stopped being depressed and feel the need to get on and do something positive.
So i've emailed the Wakefield conservative party at,
mcrowther@wakefield.gov.uk
imploring them to use whatever means they have at their disposal at local and natonal level, to question the SoS decision and locally to come out in public support of the development.
Time will tell, can't harm!!

Can't reverse the decision.
For what its worth I think the outcome of the PI will be positive but with the franchise application date looming it will be too late and as we will not have a guarantee of a new stadium we will lose out and be told to apply in 2015.

| All this really does justify the lack of spend in preparation for the coming season. Our new NRL prop might as well stay where he is too. Why throw money at something that ultimately won't make any difference?

| Unless we get a Super League licence I just cannot see how we could play at Oakwell as how will we be able to afford to pay the rent.If we are in NL1 I am afraid that we would probably only get 1,000 to 1500 people if we are lucky. Many people will just think that if we are not in super league they would just not be prepared to pay good money and will walk away from the game,me include and I have watched Trinity since 1948.

| Quote: j.c "thats not really the case though is it ?.
you were never going to be in a new stadium by the start of 2012 but niether are castleford and neither are salford 'probably'.this then brings all the other criteria into play.over the last few years i dont think you've been the weakest club.'"
Out of those three, Salford, on paper, would be the poorest perfomer, by a long way.
Unfortunately, they have a Council paying for a large part of their new ground.
The decision rests with the RFL remember, criteria counts for nothing, who they want, is who they’ll have.
In Salfords case, it’s highly unlikely their Council will now renege on the deal, so with a new Stadium on the imminent horizon, they should be a shoe in.
Cas’s application will probably be similar to last time, in that, they will be in a new ground within the next three years, possibly.
For Wakefield to continue in any capacity after next season in Super-dooper League, they must move to a Red Hall approved ground, and that’s not on Donny Road.

Salford City Reds are the National League Champions again and nobody will ever win a Grand Final more dramatically than this. Division One champions, Grand Final winners, winners of the Northern Rail Cup; everything their hearts desired. Down and out? Not a bit of it, they are never out. Memories are made of this forever and a day, Salford fans will ask "where did you watch the 2008 Grand Final? Where did you see John Wilshere save the day with the last kick of the ball?":d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10288.jpg |

Contracts have been signed by the council , the club and the developer so there wont be any going back.
Only thing thats putting a stop to the start of the actual build is the bad weather

Correct
Lets get one thing clear here, this is a setback and it can put us back another 12 months but if everything was fair and Rosey in the RL world that is all it would be nothing more than a 12 months delay.
But I don't think RL is fair, it is being run by manipulative people who have an obvious agenda and we are not part of their future Eutopia. So in a way a side of me is not that bothered about this and it may be the time to move on. Our City deserves pro sport of one kind or another and if RL thinks we should be good little chidren and be gratefull for their offer to play in the Championship then they can F off as far as I am concerned.
Its early doors yet and none of us know how this will unfold, but if its the end for SL then I will be the first in the queue to help give our City a pro sports team of whatever form it will take

| R.I.P Wakey Trin. I will always love you but the powers that be coupled with some poor management have driven you to your death. Devastated at this news, I genuinely believe this is the end for us.

31007_1580947500.jpg EVENTUALLY, WE'LL WIN SOMETHING, ,MAYBE, IF I'M STILL ALIVE THEN:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_31007.jpg |

| Our fate is wholly in the hands of the RFL, and we haven't done what we said we do. One of three things will happen now:
1. The RFL will say that we have sorted out the stadium issue by moving to a Super League quality stadium, and will take on board the fact that the stadium is still a goer as far as funding is concerned, and allow us a franchise over our neighbours, in that they have a funding shortfall (if that is the case).
2. They will say we haven't delivered and boot us out. The club will move to Oakwell but will struggle in the lower league as we play in a stadium frm which we derive no income, with no Sky money. We won't win anything and so will not qualify for Super League, Newmarket or not, and we fold.
3. The RFL say that neither of you have satisfied our criteria, and so it's merge or out for both you.
I would be most optimistic about the first option, but the swear filter will not let me give my feelings about Pickles right now. Lets just say that it is connected with girth and parentage.
