| Quote: Shooze "Saw the second half of the U10s tournament and there was some good stuff played.
The tension that boiled over at the end had been simmering for a while as other teams were adamant that Panthers were switching players between their A & B sides throughout, to the point of naming names.
The final was a great game, but was somewhat spoiled by a refereeing display I shall kindly call 'inconsistent'.
As a neutral it all took the edge off I'm afraid and lessons need to be learned.'"
no players were swapped and two team sheets with full names and numbers were given, due to the number of panthers players in the two sides "22" some players were in u9s shirts which had duplicat numbers on the same has some kids in u10s shirts, again in hindsight one of the teams should have kept their shirts inside out but hindsight is a wonderful thing you dont expect accusations of cheating at u10s,for the record the only complaint was made by a lock lane players mother and nobody else and the accusation was made that 1 player had played in both sides who just happend to have been an ex lock lane player who left under a cloud.
has for the referee i thought he did well considering the pressure put on him from the crowd and to be confronted by parents is a disgrace and should never happen hopefully the perpatrayers will be named shamed and given club bans.
you are quite right that lessons need to be learned and over the two days 3 out of the 5 age groups that played ended in contreversy all games played between the panthers and lock lane, has somebody who has played for lock lane and coached at the panthers i find it sad that they cannot get through a day without problems and imho the only way to stop it is to keep the two clubs apart, again not one incident was child on child but all from the touchline side.

it does get silly when parents let them selves down
it wasnt players it was 1 player and yes it took the shine off a bruising cup final that could have gone either way,you would like to think it was too much sun and too much drink but me thinks very sadly this could end up like older age groups where it will be an unhealthy rivalry.

Welcome to junior rugby; my lad plays U11's and I don't think I've been to a game yet that doesn't feature some parents (and sometimes coaches) behaving like mindless thugs.

True, and thats due to the fact that is the worst age group I have ever seen in the last 10 years, and its across the board, everywhere.

only club who complained about my little poppi (puppy) attending and sent little ozzie packing as well, would not be bothered but there was plenty of volcanic pooh and enough pot holes to keep a champion pot holer happy for hours.

| Anyway, thought i'd cheers myself up by reporting on the only good thing that happened over the weekend involving rugby Stanley Rangers under 10's travelled to New Earswick for their annual gala and emerged victorious after 5 wins and a draw. Wins came against York Acorn, Heworth, Oulton, Townville and New Earswick with the only draw against runners up Lock Lane. We notched 15 tries (with young Mutts managing 3 ) and only conceded two, happy days. Off for a well earned break now.

the 8s won 2 lost 2 and beat 2 teams that had put over 10 tries each past them just 2 months ago...massive improvement as the young un is now a under 9
