I agree.
We made some mistakes and a couple of decisions went against us but in the end Sts were better than us. No shame in that.
I thought the young scrum half had a blinder.

5th Place but still level on points with 4th and only 1 point behind 3rd. Not sure what to make of the fixtures to be honest. Think I'd rather face Leeds, Wigan, Saints at home than away. Salford and Hudds away should not hold any fear for us given how we've played this season. Away at Hull is tough but winnable. Cas away is another tough game but it's not impossible.

You'd also hope that given the 3 home games we have got it would be better for revenue than Hudds and Salford at home.

KingStreetCat sums it up, 6-24 down and we fail to score right on half time.
We had been poor, with no ball but still could have been within touching distance, especially when we scored straight after half time.
Saints squeezed us down the middle like Salford did in the Cup.
Saints line speed was too quick for us to get our leisurely passing out to the backs.

4th would have given us virtually the same but with Cas + an extra game at home which MC reckonned was worth >£70k. Lets not underplay the financial enormity of today's disaster.

Choked on the big occasion again. Absolutely gutted. And despite our best season in years less than 6k there to see it including a healthy Saints following, seems to me the wider Wakefield public couldn't give a monkeys chuff about the club.

Maybe the stay aways are cleverer than you give them credit for. I would hope our average has improved on last years but the big improvements need us to be winning games like today's or at least keeping the deficit within that 14 points we required.

We really need Salford to get to Wembley. I think Saints will end up in the top four and a Wembley distraction could be immensely beneficial for us, as one of the others around us would be there as well. I know who I'll be cheering for next week,

Until today would have said that Salford will not win a game again this season. Now I think they have a good chance in one.

Not reading 7 pages, just makes me think, someone starting a thread with this title. We knew, deep down we all knew.

I know the extra home game would have been nice but I'm looking at that and thinking we've done alright.

Three of the four tougher ones at home is not too bad on reflection.

Equal points with fourth placed team, one point behind third placed team prior to the Super 8's. If we'd been offered that at the beginning of the season I suspect 99.9% of us would have taken that.
Still got plenty to play for.

Salford and Huddersfield at home are never going to be money spinning fixtures. Forget how well Cas are doing this season, forget Salford's renaissance. Historically, Leeds, Wigan and Saints are the big boys so to get them at home is a result.

Just so bloody typical! absolutely played off the park today by a good Saints team. In attack - we were clueless and our defence once again, for most of the match stood and waited for the opposition to run at us from the ruck.
we'll certainly see what we're made of now. Massive improvement needed.
On the plus side the new prop impressed!

Am I right in thinking the 3rd game in the 8's will be Cas away.

If so strong possibility we could be the team for them to beat to get the shield that day.
Or they could have got the shield the week before and would like to rub our faces in it to celebrate it.

Could be a great chance to urinate on their chips.
