| Jowit did play in the league game and Grix in the cup .Jowitt dropped one high ball but caught about 7 while running at full speed also made a break of 60 yds to set up the winning try . Grix failed to take 7 + high balls wich put us under pressure .Think we lost by well over 30 points , though we did have a weeker team out

| Quote from Chessie in this weeks League Express..."Broughy has a job on trying to get Max Jowitt out of the shirt at the moment.....It's obviously a boost to get Broughy back, but competition for places means you've got to earn your place in this team...I've had to hold him back a bit. It's great that he wants to play and he'll be raring to go this weekend".
Mixed messages in that for me....yes, he's been impressed with Jowitt and he might stick with him, but Brough is also good to go ???

That's how i'd do it. We don't want to be going for wholesale changes but it's a good oppotunity for some guys who haven't had much first team action yet this season like Brough, Batchelor, King, Kershaw & Kirmond to get a go in the 17 and a chance for other to rest any knocks. The squad depth is there this year and it doesn't weaken us much and whilst i'm sure Kear will have Bradford fired up we should still have way too much for them.

| Quote: little wayne69 "In your opinion Grix was better than Jowitt at the time, which I suppose validates your self evidently stupid biased opinion that nobody can argue with that or your opinion, well there are plenty on here would argue that it does not make sense that Grix was first choice, so just to sum up then, it was alright to put Grix straight back in the side irrespective of Jowitts form but you would find it disappointing if Jowitt got dropped and not stepped aside for Brough, and you don't find that contradictory.'"
Yes, in my opinion - I'm not sure how I could write any other way; nor do I feel the need to qualify every statement by saying "in my opinion" - it seems a given that if I'm writing it, it's my opinion.
Again - I think it was justified to select Grix over Jowitt *at the time.* I don't think it would be justified to stand him down now, *at this time*; there is no contradiction in that, because the two situations are not identical. Although I can see the logic in wanting Brough on the field if he's fit - he's got years of experience and still reads a game better than most. Maybe the answer is to rest Miller, or drop Max to fb and leave out Walker?
Quote: little wayne69 "Maybe Redcaps suggestion that Chester has a grudge against Jowitt is off the mark, but to a lot of people on here it seems that he's just a stop gap used by Chester as and when, which as the coach is down to him which if your a Jowitt fan makes it also patently evidently stupid.'"
Yes it was off the mark - it's crazy to think that a coach who's job is based on results would deliberately overlook a player who could deliver those results, because of some childish personal grudge.

Brough seems to demand that every play goes through him, which leaves Miller feeding off scraps (if he's lucky).
I think there was a similar issue at Huddersfield, which caused a fair bit of fall out, which may be why Brough was swapped (for Grix).
It has to be about the team and never about ANY single player.

| I’ve always though of Brough as being one of the best, if not the best all round kicker of a rugby ball I’ve ever seen
He’s being an amazing half too over the years
Along with his defence his place kicking is still 2nd to none however those amazing flat no look grubbers, the deep kicks to space and the towering bombs he used to produce just don’t come any more
He is still capable of decent last play kicks but generally our last play kicking options range from awful to average
In the two games max has played in the half’s our last play kicking has really improved, I am really impressed with him
Miller is also buzzing everywhere at the heart of the attack which is key to us winning
I agree miller and max are doing really well together and I would like to see that continue
I’m not sure if max is the answer for the future but it’s working now
Also any one that doesn’t rate miller is deluded
The guy is absolute class

I think Miller has all the attributes for a quality Stand Off, I just wish he would back himself more, maybe that's an old fashioned view as the likes of Toppo etc would seek a gap and go, whereas todays Stand Off's seem more concerned in creating play for others.

Hit the nail on the head IMO. Every play has to go through Brough leaving Miller in his shadow. He’s a more dominant character even with Miller as captain, it’s just the kind of person he is.
Nothings going to change this season I’m afraid, he’ll come back in once fully fit. Is this his final year?
Still got one of the best kicking games in RL on his day. I thought ours on Friday was pretty poor, need to be contesting more last tackle kicks. Back 3 of hull often caught the ball with no Trinity player within 10 metres.

Agree about your stand off comments
I think miller is starting to back him self again
I think we need to put last season behind us too as 2018 miller was a different player
Miller had an awful injury, along with half of the team
In particular three of the guys he sets up so well in Ashurst, Bill and Tommy
They are all back now, I believe the best is yet to come from Jacob and his team
One thing I would like to see and I know it’s difficult with BJB out but I’d like to see Ashurst, Bill and Tommy back together with Miller
