As far as I can tell Ted is the only one who could possibly hold the line for a bit longer, it's all about time now. I don't know how he could do it but I have a feeling he might, he's managed it for the last 15 years
No good businessman would buy this club and saddle themselves with the debts rather than let it go into administratiom and get it on the cheap. If they did, they don't possess the brains or nous to run the club!

Time will tell, but anyone who did buy the club before Administration and cleared the debts would regain the confidence of debtors and probably make the clubs business dealings, particularly in the local community a lot easier in the future, and might score the odd brownie point with the RFL.
Probably a crap business decision but if I was wadded up I would do it.

In some respects it could turn out to be a good business decision to buy the club before admin. It all depends on what chance you think we have of getting a franchise. With no administration black mark against us and playing in a SL standard stadium at Barnsley I would say we was a shoe in for a franchise. Our our application for a franchise would a lot better than Castlefords who will have to show that they have the funding to build Glasshoughton ( not likely at all). If the clubs is bought after administration then I really can't see us having a strong enough application with that against our name. In all fairness we probably would deserve a franchise (along with Crusaders) if we went into administration.

Maybe not, but that hardly helps us does it. If we avoid Administration we retain our SL status. We lose that we may never get it back.

I don't see why.
I think we are closer on this than you imagine.
Your blunt black and white approach in this case is fully justified.
We may differ as to why but I agree entirely that Ted must go as soon as possible. His position is no longer tenable regardless of his guilt or innocence, that is how it is.
However despite your bluster you know as well as I that it's not as simple as it appears. I fear there is more to come on this and there is a lot of grey.
Ted is like the captain of the Titanic - after it's hit the iceberg. It's to late now, shooting the captain won't help.
I want him to man up and man the bridge until everyone else is safe, then sadly he will have to sink but hopefully the ship won't.
I want him to rectify as much as possible so that the new owners don't find too many boobytraps when they take over. He can't do that if he's on the outside.
It's not sentiment it pragmatism.

No problem..,
1: I've attended a fair few AGM and am yet to see a serious challenge/bid materialise in 15 years.
2: Ted is the majority shareholder but does not hold the majority of share. There are a number of shares available, both held by others and available from the club as unsold. Certainly enough for a determined bidder to mount a challenge if they really wanted to - they never have.
3: Ted did relinquish control of the club once to a populist choice. His name was John Pearman - can't recall how that worked out.
Remember this, Ted hasn't always been on his uppers or the villian. He got us into SL, put up a million quid to guarantee the club post Pearman and managed to find a plan B with Yorkcourt after the Council mugged us. Clearly it's all gone wrong now and the blame appears to lay with Ted but folk have short memories and tend to forget that it's not been all bad.
Finally I happen to know that the only other real bid was a guy from Hull who was connected to Steve Ferres who was interested some years back. I think Ted did put him off at the time, probably wrongly. However Ted was within his rights and was not obliged to give the club away. I think this is the case many refer to as the one that got away. Yet as I've said there was always the chance available to anyone wishing to gain control of the club if they had really wanted to and were willing to put their hands in their pockets. The fact is most of them wanted it given to them and that was never going to happen. If I'd have been Ted at the time I wouldn't, why should I and how do we know if they would have been any better?

Not the case at all. Not entering administration will obviously help our license bid but in no way does it guarentee our status. The chances are we will still get the push either way.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

Ime glad there is somebody on here showing a smidgins of common sense , I take it from this post that Mr Richardson has been in control of WTW for around 15 years ( with a period where somebody less liked had the helm ) , people don't hang around at a pro sports club that probably doesn't make a profit for that long if they are inherently dishonest , with the way things are looking he is now out of his depth financially , is that a crime ? , is he the only person in this county who in the last 3/4 years is no longer able to

Not the case at all - straight back at you. That is just conjecture (probably right but all the same). Going into Admin would make it a certainty. You want to make that call?
The problem is no one on here knows the full story - until we do calling for instant retribution may well be VERY counterproductive. Like it or not you are innocent until proven guilty it's THE LAW. Ted may have lost his credibility however that's no guarantee he's lost his case - especially in a legal sense.
Surely the last thing any of us want is the club bogged down by years of litigation in which only Lawyers get rich - anyone who doesn't think that could happen has their head in the clouds.
Think of it this way, if Ted is the mafioso some suggest then he will have been clever enough to have covered his track and stashed the loot. The terrace mentality simply won't work in this case, shouting isn't the long term answer.

I actually believe the opposite now. I think we would have no chance with the current regime - despite all their efforts - but that by bringing in new money and management we may have a chance, and if that means going through admin to get there, then thank God for Crusaders and the rule changes they brought us!
