| We didn't miss him last year!!
A season too far for the old bones, he's been good, but it's deffo the right thing for him to move on, and I wish him well.
Best of luck JD!!!!!

| Not sure I'd feel so pleased about it if I were a York fan - we, of all people, know what it's like to lose a pivotal player at a key time. He hasn't even pulled on the jersey.

| york signed jd as a player, and as i understand it were fully aware of his desire for a coaching position or one more year in sl, so eyes open for them and no need to moan.
whats the money on sam obst ending up there then?

all the best JD will be playing against you soon

| Best of luck JD. Im sure he will get on just fine, and I think he will probably enjoy it more than he would have done at York.

| We're safe. I've just checked and the penthouse suite above the cultural food emporium is unavailable until 2015.

Obst is a hard worker, a decent player, but him leaving would not be the same as the ravens fleeing the Tower of London.
The more I think of it, the more Demetriou's stint at the club can never be fairly judged. He was in a position no-one would wish on anyone with the tragedies which hit the club, but his leadership and media skills then should not be used to base everything on. Especially not when his playing skills were on the wane, due to age, around the same time. Players get old, no-one lasts forever.

but obst is one of the better players at wakey and he d prob be replaced(if at all) by some new found rough diamond from a super league reserve team that nobody else wants

| Got to say I was slightly dismissive of JD joining us as Head Coach - washed up SL player and all that stuff ...
But reading the comments from the Trinity Fans about the guy as a person and the qualities he's brought to your club ( and not just on the field ) ..really thinking this may be the man for us ...

FFS! The lad got enough stick off the terraces during 2010. The end of his Super League career suited everybody. In many people's view it went on one season too long.
