| no, a move out of Wakefield into a small town which already has a SL side would be the end of Wakefield Trinity. It would be like selling Union Jacks in Dublin

| I'd prefer our own stadium in Stanley, but if that wasn't an option and it was the only way we could stay in SL then I'd travel the extra 10 mins to GH.

Surely it's not about travelling distance, it's about identity.
I live near Birmingham and, if the club relocated to the Midlands I'd support the them but it wouldn't be Wakefield Trinity anymore. It's like a heart transplant - the recipient doesn't become the donor.
I know this isn't the question but I really do think the only viable way forward for RL in the area is a merged team. I wouldn't mind where it played within the council area BUT - for me to support it, it would have to be called Wakefield.
Wakefield Mets playing out of Glasshoughton might be an acceptable compromise?
I think ground sharing at GH would be the end of Wakefield in SL.

Agree with everything you say including a merger. Just saying that if it was a choice of GH or nothing it would be GH and that could be the stark choice we end up having to make.

Councillor Peter Box - Cas season ticket holder. Wakefield will never get anything before Cas where the council are concerned.

| I hate this, but
YES to a Merged team
NO and a big NO to a move to GH.
This was obvious from day one, I have said it on here for months, and got slated for it, BOX will only support any Cas based initiative, he and WMDC have spent millions on that area, whilst our CITY is wilting and dying.

I'd watch a merged team at Glasshoughton too.
I think a move for the Wildcats to Glasshoughton would probably just mean a temporary stay of execution.

| Don't you think this poll is counterproductive? All it shows so far is that there are 72 Wakey fans who are too stubborn to ground share. Do you think anyone would take notice of 72?

It also shows that there are only 32 who will back it. Better to look at the ratio of for and against I think.

Bit of a value judgement there!
But - fair point. Has the club actually done any market research and taken account of fans' opinions? I know there were a few questions on the recent poll the club did but there are a lot more supporters who go to games but don't use this forum or the club website. Does anyone know what they think?

So if its a merger playing out of GH you want to retain the Wakey name ???? How many Cas fans would watch a team called Wakefield wherever they played ?
You would get less fans than you already do.
The merger idea should be put to bed , it will never happen (please god) and if it does whichever team loses its identity will also lose those fans to the game.
IMO a ground share is a step too far, you lot go for NM and we will go for GH, good luck to both clubs.
as a side note. the game and tension and atmosphere and banter , in fact everything about yesterday was everything this sport should be about and if the clowns at red hall want to lose this in favour of a hotly contested toulouse v quins debacle with 1500 watching, then the game really is being murdered by these idiots .
GOD HELP RUGBY LEAGUE

Me and the missus said the same walking down from Cas Town centre yesterday.
Once the team capitulated we lost a bit of the enjoyment

If you think this is a realistic possibility then you are living in cloud cuckoo land. I'd love it to be the case - but it ain't ever gonna happen. As you say SL will be the poorer for not having both/any of the clubs in. The only chance we now have is a ground share, unpalatable as it is. Although in order for that to work it would have to be done on an partnership basis rather than one club being subservient to the other.
