I doubt they will be up to the standards of the three (are there still three?) in Disney Orlando.
I wonder if there was a reason they didn't build one at Disneyland Europe though?
Whilst I seem to appear very negative about this I would welcome somewhere different where we could take the kids for the day. My kids are very young but have an affinity with water and both go swimming weekly (one being only 12 weeks old and at a private pool). But I hate the Metrodome with a passion and the place was summed up for me by a kid stood in the pool sharing chips with his mother. Great concept that would have Jamie Oliver running to the hills.'"

Proper burnt my shoulders queuing up for the massive one with the horn on the boat.
Although we got wetter running for the van when it started to 'rain'.

Blizzard Beach & Typhoon Lagoon. The other closed. There is still Wet & Wild and the new one at Sea World, Aquatica.

Was'nt the other one Huckleberry Finns River Adventure or something like that?
Typhoon Lagoon is superb, first time I went I got caught out by the big wave as I knew nothing about it. I'd swum out towards the rope at the back and was knacked when boom!!!
I just had time to say FFS and then let it wash me up back on the beach

This was my fault. My definition of a waterpark may be slightly different to the Castleford Artistic Impressionist.

We all went to Orlando as a family for my dads retirement (10 of us).He lost his glasses on a ride at Typhoon Lagoon. They called for someone and a 'Helper' in a full frogman outfit tipped up and they shut the ride whilst he collected the glasses. Of the 7 pairs he pulled out only one of them was my dads!.

yes yours seemed to be in a renowned holiday resort with a captive rich audience!
now unless disney and warners are planning something in the guaranteed heat of glasshoughton in the next few years, with expensive hotels that subsidise your exciting rides i can see a tad of an economic hole in their argument!

Yeah - when we went it was only open 4 days a week I think. It was a sort of wet adventure playground where you were supposed to fall off. I don't think people got it!

and this will lose a fortune.
simple plain and uncontestable fact is non subsciption water facilities ie pools and slidy pools lose money.
and lots and lots and lots of it, freze it ie Xscape and it makes money because it cant leak drain get unhygenic etc.'"
Of course Pugneys could never happen, it was only a view from the Clan.
Water Parks often struggle to make money in the States, Water Mania in Orlando closed years ago but there is more competition in Orlando but a bigger audience.
It looks a cracking scheme but will require massive Capital Investment and one hell of a nerve from the investors.
Will be great for the area if it comes off but I would guess its a long way from becoming reality. Good luck to Castleford, I for one hope it happens and they get their Stadium.
I hope even more that the Stadium at Newmarket comes off for us.

and i know that too....chill mate!
its an intresting discussion, but to think that a ground would be better of with a non subscription water facility is pure folly.
...........and you probably know that as well as i do!

| Quote: Fully "That seems a low figure, but I guess that's down to location and size again?'"
The deal was for a total figure of around £3.5m with various payments made at certain key stages (i.e. obtaining planning permission). Some of the money will have gone to repay the bank so that the legal charge they held could be released - just like it would if you sold your house for more than your mortgage was for. The bulk of the remainder is being used as the club's contribution to the community trust that is building the stadium.
We all know that WR is a bigger site than Belle Vue, so will obviously have the potential to give Cas greater funds, however, the real value cannot be realised until the blast zone from the Hicksons site no longer exists so that a residential development can be built & the last I heard was that the various plans for that site had been withdrawn.
Even when that hurdle has been cleared, there's no guarantee that any house builder will want to buy more land for a few years yet. An agreement in principle may exist, but in reality it's a meaningless term and is something that either side could easily get out of if they wanted.
For the good of the future of both clubs - and therefore local RL - I want to see both sides get the new stadia they deserve. It doesn't really matter who gets their's built first or whose is considered to be the better stadium. What matters is that both clubs have progressed far enough with their individual plans that it isn't an issue when it comes to the next franchise decision.
Equally, if both clubs make the playoffs for the next couple of years (and ideally don't fall at the first hurdle) it will be extremely difficult for the RFL not to give both clubs a franchise regardless of the progress for new stadia.
