Halifax have released 9/13 Bob Beswick and the local press release has him linked with you guys. Certainly one of the best in Championship the last few years!

Hope not. Firstly he's not particularly good and also i can't see why we'd need him anyway, we will have enough cover in both those positions.

I keep reading this in the RL Press about how good Beswick is but I've never yet seem him stand out in any of the many relevant Championship games I've watched.

I think you're wrong Beswick is a very good player though not a world beater - but his premium years are behind him - the time to sign Beswick was a few years back. Can't see him with enough left in the tank to make his mark now. Maybe as cover he'd be useful.

I agree that he's a good player a championship level but thats all, i see nothing in him that makes me think he'll make the step up to superleague at this stage of his career. He isn't even the best hooker at Halifax, Penkywicz gets that accolade and is nothing more than a solid loose forward. IMHO he would be behind Washbrook, Howarth & Kirmond for that spot and Hooker is pretty well covered, especially if Obst does return. Think we could spend the money we have more wisely.

Kirmond not been announced yet and howarth I'm sure has not been signed as yet.

Howarth is under contract for next year. At least he is turning up at pre-season training on the 2nd November under the impression he is! Kirmond is a done deal.

The article I read said he and Vievers signed for 2012 season. Maybe it's still to be announced then.

Take it you mean 2011? I thought exactly the same but it sounds as the club had an option on them for next year and have taken it up on Howarth but not on Veivers. Be interesting to see how he develops.

What I'm saying is he could have made a decent SL player a few years ago but that chance has gone. I don't think being steady at Championship level precludes you being a success in SL, see Oliver Wilkes. Likewise appearing outstanding in the Championship doesn't mean you will be good in SL - see Neil Turley.

I spoke to Vievers in town a couple months back and he was saying he doesn't have a contract for next year
