I am assuming BS wanted to take over Wakey and buy out MC. if he wanted to and had the money or investors backing him.why would MC need a business plan from him, MC would be gone. That is my point.

Unless MC does actually care about the club and doesn't want to see us in somebodies hands who would go against the stability that he has given us financially.

Let's just hope that he does care about the club and the long suffering fans, he doesn't seem to get the message across somehow. Time will tell, I just hope that whatever happens Wakefield Trinity continue being a Super League club. The city of Wakefield deserves a top class professional sports club.

It ends in a bloodbath!

I think MC comes out of this with a lot of credit. He could have easily said, "here you go, here's the keys, fill your boots", but he insisted on seeing a properly thought-out plan. That might have been because of the money he is owed by the club, but by not handing over power to the first person who shows the slightest bit of interest does suggest that he has the long-term future of the club at heart.

What I can't help wondering is why an Aussie in his sixties who appears to be merely passing through the UK is the slightest bit interested in owning a rugby club that appears to be a business basket-case. Money to be made on land? Who knows. I can't help thinking, however, that MC was right in wanting to know more about the first offer that landed on the table.

If it was about control, rather than ownership, again I can't help thinking that MC did the right thing in saying no, because what's to stop BS running up unsustainable debts and hotfooting it back to Aus?

Something stinks in this, and it smells of kangaroos and Victoria Bitter!

Can't help thinking this reminds me of quite a few yrs ago when a certain caddick wanted to buy the club and a bloke called Ted got in his way . Look what that ended like . Caddick went elsewhere and Ted nearly ran us into ground let's hope this doesn't end same way

Ladies and gentlemen we have a winner. If MC hands over control of the club to someone else he loses the control over getting his money back as well. He wrote it in this very forum that it was that reason he was taking on the club, that will still be ongoing given the continuing level of outstanding director loans. You can understand that he'd want his cash back but I imagine BS would have preferred those payments to be channelled elsewhere and as such wouldn't put in a repayment agreement in writing. If it was a buyout then i doubt it would have included the director debts that still exist so he would lose all the money instantly. The club owes him his pension pot back and he is within his rights to ask for it back before he moves on, it does though provide a stumbling block to someone who hasn't a pitful of brass to chuck at the club. There is also the fact that Mrs MC also works at the club, would this be likely to continue had BS got control and MC was gone given their 'frosty' relationship? You'd have to say it was doubtful. Does that show he has the club at heart though, or is he looking after his own interests? Or is the truth is its a mixture of the two as they are both mutually beneficial? The club surviving in the top flight means more cash back. That though means the status quo remains regarding investment, something we need desperately. Neither side really comes out of this well to be honest and the club and its supporters suffer as a result. We are stuck in a massive hole and it's all very depressing really.

I think you have hit the nail on the head there. I think MC genuinely does have the interests of the club at heart but quite understandably wants his money back. He presumably loaned it to the club so why should it be any different to any other loan - has to be repaid!
If he didn't have the interests of the club at heart why on earth would he have taken it on initially?
If he can do it by making the club successful first then I'm all for that!

If its is to be Kear which i hope it isnt then MC will be able to save some more money , by closing. the youth dept .He wasted a full generation last time and will do again. too much media work to be bothered about the Academy or Scolarship

I've a feeling quite a few clubs, including ours, will be closly monitoring how the mergered Hull academy pans out. If that is even moderately successful then i think it will lead to a series of 'regional academies' within 5 years
