| Quote: St. Chunter "i've seen nothing that would lead me to think grix can be an effective 6 over a full season'" i'm not saying he would be, just think when we have given him the chance before , he has done well. thought he did a great job at 6 for ireland. might be worth a try for us.

| Still don't think the defensive issues are down to us playing 3 hookers.
Just watched the tries on Sky and can't see Obst at fault in any.
JD Brough Wilkes all missed easy tackles
and like it was said earlier, Obst is doing other peoples work so is bound to come up in teh tackling stats, whether good or bad.

Agree with you here, Obsty seems to be going in for tackles on people who are twice size of him, whereas the bigger guys should be doing what Sam is doing.
Also, i didn't see people like drew, latu or rooney go close to line like Obst.
IMO, it seems to me that Grix got all the flack last month, and Obst got it a few times today and last game.
Instead of picking out Sam constantley, shouldn't we be looking at the whole team and seeing where they go wrong, i.e, missed tackles, penaltys, knock ons and hopefully come up with something to sort it out!

| Ive seen that some people say we should go for an overseas loose forward but why do we need to go overseas when we should look closer to home and get players to play with passion. Bradford and Huddersfield both this weekend had loose forwards who play well week in and week out and they're both from wakefield (Langley and Kirmond) we used to have a lad a few years ago who played at loose and never seemed to miss a tackle and always put his body on the line for wakey (spicer) but yet we always go for overseas rubbish

Sam is no more a 6 than my mum!! He's a 7 or 9 leave him there!!
Got to be latu who misses out for me,doesn't bring enough to the party, also can't believe JK picked such a small bench against a big side like bulls!!
Big error on JK's behalf I think

| We keep going on about JK picking people that are too small but to be honest I stick with the "JK knows what he is doing" posts.
If the bigger guys aren't good enough then they aren't good enough.
We are not playing rugby Union where a big shove in the scrum helps so put a big fatty in. They need to be able to play and be fit enough to tackle for the whole game (or time on the pitch for the props). Bibey and Pitts (for example)are bigger than Obst and Latu but they don't (recently) put the same effort into the game.
If the team against Bulls was what he had to play then he had to play it.
I'm pretty sure he would have wanted us to run the big bulls pack around a lot more than we did and get the ball wide. We did it but not enough and that's partly what lost us the game not the "not being big enough".....otherwise Bulls would win all their games because they have the biggest pack.

| Agreed.
Latu should have missed out, Winterstien/Pitts should have played off the bench.

| Quote: St. Chunter "why?
we lost today because we got steam rolled by their pack (as well as numerous brain farts). so i just cant understand why we go into the game with 2 hookers on the bench when we have the likes of pitts bibb frank etc, who should imo have been played instead to help give us some more size.
latu, irrespective of how well he performed and how he drives the ball in is not a back rower. Kear needs to take the difficult decision and drop one of either drew latu or obst.
for me drew can do an hour and still remain effective. latu can cover the pack if need be but also spell with drew when he goes off and so as harsh as it may be sam should lose out and be dropped next week.
we got knocked all over today at times and still could have won the game if we hadn't come up with extremely poor plays at crucial points, the korki knock on, the terrible kick chase from a brilliant brough kick on their line when they scored in the next set, the dropped ball on their line when the scored next set after snitch's superb cover tackle on jeffries and when blaymire failed to collect rooneys kick through (good support to be fair). the margins are slim and we were not helped by having too small a bench. i just dont understand the reasoning against a big dominant pack like bradfords
I agree with this post its a good post. We don't need 3 hookers I would drop Obst. Latu played amazing for Tonga in the World cup and its unfair to put him in the back row hes 5 foot 7 for god sake the poor lad is going to get some right injuries.

Disagree Sam should have missed out hes not played well for weeks now and is getting targeted week in week out by the big men. All that tackling above his weight over the years and the course of this season is taking its toll on the little man, not his fault hes getting picked to play in the middle but why not play him at 6 and let him stand out wide in defense keeping him fresh for our attacking plays?

I would have no problem with that, for me Latu's wasted coming on has a battering ram, yes he runs hard and fast but its not effective (i'm not a fan of his anyway ) but i do think his games been ruined and thats why i would have "rested" him.
But we should have had 3 forwards on the bench anyway, Sam or Latu must miss out for me.

Agree with that, Obst has had a hard time so far this season!! A rest would do him the world of good. Not long ago he was one of the first players the fans would have on there team sheet.
Latu I would keep though, thought he had a decent game yesterday. He always runs into defence like his life depends on it, would be good to see Bibey do that more often
