I have concerns which I think deep down many do but I hope that the lessens of last season turn out to be a positive. I am sure that no one at the club will want to go through that again with all the problems it brings. I accept that we will probably be in the bottom 4 again but the important thing is that the team play to 100% every game and we at least show we are not the easy beats we were perceived to be this season.
I know the squad will not have the big names like many others but wasn't that always the way with Wakefield. The difference was we had spirit which would not let us lose by 40 points every game and I hope B Smith can reinstate that in the current squad.
We will never be a Leeds or Wigan but being Wakefield supporters we don't expect us to be, so even the smallest victory means a lot to us. We are not arrogant enough to believe we will we can hope but just being competitive and not giving up after half the season is all we demand.
I expect in Brian Smith we will have a coach who can bring the work ethos back and would never admit in private or public that the season is over, not the best selling point for supporters.
I believe the squad needs a couple of flair players and another centre but at least we have tried to boost the speed of our back line. It is not good when a winger intercepts a pass and he is caught within 20 yards.

I have no idea what went on at the club but the whole place was a depressing place to be, with just one problem after another. God knows what Brian Smith thought when he walked through the doors . It seemed that all respect from many of the players had evaporated and going through the motions was a culture .
NEXT SEASON will start with a squad of players who will provide effort and improve. Its still interesting how some of the squad still haven't played for B Smith and others have only played a couple of games. The whole culture of the club will change and only players that buy in to the process will stay.
Wakey fans in my view are up for a season to remember for all the right reasons, and will clearly see a club at long last on the up.
I would not be surprised if we manage the top 8 and im absolutely sure that will be the target .

Top 8, after being tailed off in the wooden spoon position would be a massive turn around and may well be beyond us.
But, if we are competitive in every game and the squad play as a team (which they did under Smiths charge last season, apart from the Sheffield game), then, who knows.
We till have some more players to come in and who knows where we will finish.
You can easily predict who the top 6 clubs will be but, the other 6 can finish in pretty much any order in the lower half of the league.
Both Hull clubs, ourselves, Salford, Widnes and Catalan will very likely fill 7-12 in the table and depending on form and injuries, we could scrape into he top 8 but, next season is about getting some stability and competing.

Targeting the top 8 is just a ridiculous goal.

They are all decent signings. The best thing about it for me is that we have managed to get rid of 3/4 high earning Aussies in Kevin Locke, Tim Smith, Dean Collis & Ali Lauitiiti - & replaced them with British players that are here to prove a point.

In my opinion it's all about being competitive more than getting in the top 8, if we can be competitive as Hull KR were last season then beating the Championship clubs shouldn't be out of our reach. Although I'd much rather not be in that position.
