Quote: bren2k "Yep - Foxy saved you from embarassment by letting Hall in for a couple of softies.'"

Also stooped him scoring a few more - we were good but nat that good, Leeds had plenty of chances. Foxy had the hardest job on the field against an on fire Hall, he had little choice on occasion to just go for him. Remember Hall is one of the few British players who can score against the Aussies.

Quote: Tin Soldier "You guys are becoming a difficult team to beat (Especially at home) now. SL needs more sides that can truely compete at the top level.

Good luck for the rest of the season.'"

Cheers - it's been a long time coming and at risk of tempting fate, it does feel like something good is happening down at BV in the latter part of this season.

It would be nice to think that Wakey v Leeds becomes a proper derby going forward, instead of a 2 point gimme for Leeds.

Quite amusing/frustrating to see Sky have a good photo of Ryan Hall...

Saw this one coming, just like when we lost to the Bulls at Odsal. Well done Wakey.

Indeed it does, I think the feelgood factor has coincided with the "Agar and Wood out" brigade scuttling back under their respective rocks and woodwork to be fair.

As mentioned beating Hudds, Leeds and (hopefully) Cas would be the ideal 3 game streak! Hope we travel to the Jumble in numbers.

I'm not gonna do a "Wigan" and say we played poorly because that wasn't the case. Wakey played well and fully deserved their win, more clinical with ball in hand near the line and tackled well. Yes I was disappointed but results like this can only be good for the game of RL. Let's hope you can build some momentum through till the end of the season and make Wakefield one of the bigger clubs again.

I wouldn't argue with that but in fairness, the two he scored in quick succession only needed Foxy to bump him with the shoulder as he landed and put him into touch; the first one in particular should have ended with Hall splattered all over the East Stand.

The third was a corker though - not many would have stopped him.

That's the beauty of a great team effort though. Hall's tries were an irrelevance in terms of the result and the coaches can work with Fox before you play Cas. I'm willing to bet he won't be giving much away against them.

Absolutely - according to Agar's post-match, Foxy was well aware that he'd had a nightmare few minutes against Hall, so I expect he'll be flogged on the bags this week and will be looking to launch his opposite number into the stands at Cas.

All of that said, I wouldn't put myself in front of Hall when he's in full flight - to quote from the Stevo book of stating the bleedin' obvious, he's a big unit!

Hall is one of the few British backs I actually rate. He's big and fairly fast and very strong but above all else he has great positional awareness. I get your point but not many can splatter Hall anywhere and certainly not Fox. Fox is an old style winger we have to accept that. He's fairly slight and depends on his speed and balance. In defence he will always come off second best to Hall as indeed Cockayne would have. All the coaching in the world won't change the outcome much IMHO. You could put Walshaw there but you won't see any length of the field, Mellors on Crusaders form would be best but the Mellors we have would have been bested by Hall IMO.

It's just how it goes, we simply don't have a player to combat Hall as is the case with most other SL teams.

Whilst I agree about Hall if Fox wasn't going to jump for the ball he could have at least stood between Hall and the try line so he at least had to run over/round him to score!

I'm sure he would given the chance again. Do you get it right in your job 100% of the time? I don't, I try but I don't. I've said it before nearly all tries come from an error in defence from the opposing side, most of ours did. It's how it is it's how the game remains entertaining IMHO.

That said both Fox and Cockayne have issues when it comes to decision making in defence as indeed do most British wingers - Hall is currently the best for me. However only the truly great wingers don't and Fox is not and never will be a great RL winger. However he scores a lot of tries, he entertains, he's brave even if he times it wrong on occasion. I like both of them and I reckon they are the best we can get for now but I clearly recognise they both have limitations - most Trinity players do.

We won, Foxy scored and he let a poor one in - I've seen Trinity wingers have worse nights icon_biggrin.gif
